so we put her on the potty and she does nothing. i put a dipear on her and she takes it off and pees on my floors. she is 16 months old! i went to pampers.com to see what they said about potty training and all i said was to look for the signs. well i think most of them are there. she just wont go in the potty. i cant tell when she pees, unless its on my floor. and i can only tell sometimes when shes pooping. last time she was pooping i put her on the potty and she stoped and held it in. do i get her pantys and let her work it from there? she talks alot but how do i get her to tell when she's got to go? im not to sure if she knows when she is going. im really in a pickle because i dont want her peeing on my floors everytime she has to go.
i just want to thank everyone who helps!

What can I do next?

Well I was using cloth diapers with Velcro wraps and I had the same problem...I put the diaper on backwards, with the sticky tabs in the BACK and that solved it for me. It looked a little funny and didn't fit perfectly but it worked.
The other thing is putting onesie shirts on her that button at the crotch, and she won't be able to get her diaper off because the clothes will be in the way.
My daughter was potty trained at age 2, but there were lots of accidents. A friend told me to give her a tiny treat, like a yogurt covered raisin, or a tic tac, every time she went on the potty, and that stopped the accidents. I would think 16 mths is a little young yet, wait until 18 mths and you'll see a big difference in terms of communication, understanding, etc.
Hope that helps!
Blessings,
Lynn

She may be on her way. My pediatrician told me there is a window of oppurtunity at 18 months. Good luck!

My advice is to put underwear over her diaper so that she can not take her diaper off. My son used to remove his diaper all the time and putting underwear over his diaper stopped that problem. I think at 16 months she may be a little young to be ready to potty train. My son was 2 before he started. I let me son tell me when he was ready and i am sure your daughter will too. anyway let me know how it works out!!!

I think 16 months is very early to be thinking about potty training. My daughter showed all the "readiness signs" for a good year before she was truly trained. I would encourage her to sit on the potty whenever she wants to and at certain predictable times (like before bath time when she is getting undressed and praise her a lot when she does go. In the meantime, I would put her in clothing that makes it difficult to unfasten her diaper by herself (like onesies with snaps and snug-fitting pants/shorts. I think 2.5 to 3 is a great time to start with underwear. At that point, they have the words, understanding, and muscle control to really make a go of it and be successful. Good luck!
