Separating the MMR Vaccine

I was wondering if anyone knows of a pediatrician who will separate the MMR vaccine into three separate shots? My daughter has already had the mumps portion and now needs the other two. I made an appointment last week to get the measles portion with her Dr. and when I got there they informed me that they no longer do that. It would have been nice to know before I drove 25 minutes out there!! Anyway, they want me to just go ahead and get the MMR even though she has already had the mumps part of it. I am a paranoid mom, that is why I wanted them separated in the first place. Why would I want to do it now and double part of it?? I can't seem to find a doctor who does this. I live in Belton but am willing to go wherever. Thanks so much for your help!!!

What can I do next?

I did the exact same thing for my child. My doctor wrote the prescriptions for the shots and would administer them, I just had to find a pharmacy to fill the prescriptions. Ask your pediatrician if he/she will do the same.

I had a hard time finding a pharmacy because they have to buy them in bulk and there wasn't enough demand to make it worth it. Walgreens and CVS both said no (Walgreens was just plain rude about it). However, the pharmacy inside St. Joseph Health Center filled it with no problem. And they treated me respectfully.

Don't apologize for what you are doing, and you don't owe anyone an explanation for why you are doing this. Just go with what you feel is best for your daughter and keep a smile on your face!

Good luck!

I am so glad you asked this question. I too am a bit paranoid about the MMR but until they get the whole vaccination / autism thing figured out, better to be safe. My brother-in-law has autism and it has been a really rough road for my in-laws so I will take any precaution necessary.

Kudos for pursuing it! I will continue to check back on your request because I would like to find someone to do this too.

Thanks for your post,
J.

I think my doctor actually did that with my son. He is Dr. Wichman with Pediatric Care Specialists in the new building south of St. Luke's South. ###-###-####

Hi C.,
Have you tried the Hickman Mills Clinic? I have been going there since I was, o, probably 10 or 11. I'm still going to them and I am 25. I like it there. Sometimes it's harder to see one specific doctor, but they are all very nice. In regards to your question...you can try calling them and seeing if they can do it out there for you. Their number is ###-###-####. In that office is a Dr. Steven Buie, Dr. Melanie Yuen (that's who I see), Dr. Sequita Richardson (she's my back up in case Yuen is busy), Dr Cora Mallot, and another one which I can't remember. You can call there and see if they can do it for you. I'm sure if you talked to one of the doctor's they'd understand. Good luck!
