I am a mother however this question is in regards to my skin and my issue. I have been training for a triathlon therefore I have been shaving my bikini area more regularly. My issue is that about 2 days after shaving I get red bumps everytime. I'm hoping someone out there has a home remedy or advice that will be helpful. I use plenty of soap/body wash and a new razor.

What can I do next?

J., Did you resolve this issue? Otherwise, I can recommend two products to try. There is a calming rinse tonic and the warming shaving lotion. Take a look at my website: www.beautipage.com/kathieheap. Good luck with the races.

There is a product you can find in some salons called Tendskin. I used to work in a dayspa and they used it after giving bikini and brazillian waxes.

Hi J.,
Avon sells a specific item called "minimizing bumps" pads. They are not that expensive and if they do not work for you, you can get your money back. You can find a local representative in your area on www.youravon.com, and if you have a hard time finding a representative, you can check out my website, www.youravon.com/mprince2827.
Good luck with your search and let me know if you find something else,
M.

NO SOAP!!!!!

Soap if so full of toxins, I know your rolling your eyes but it's true. You can try using conditioner or just water is really what I would recommend.
check out this web site you can check out what is really in your products you are using.

I have found that this product can be helpful. I use it when I get more active in the spring/summer months and need to shave more often. Even with help from products, I still get razor burn. I shave every 4-5 days or so to let my skin heal.

I have tried pretty much every product out there and this one seems to work the best and they will send you a free sample.

Oh yeah! - I like to use a Men's shaving lotion as it tends to be gentler due to the fact that they have to shave their faces (which tends to be a more sensative area than legs). I also let the hot water run on the area I want to shave for a few minutes to open up the pores. I really like the 4-5 blade razors, that has cut down on razor burn. Shaving with the direction the hairs grow may not get as close a shave, but it also leaves less irritation. I then use the chafing lotion each day after the shower. It's great for when you want to wear a skirt too.

Remember...most people are not checking your bikini line for stubble. :)

Actually, I respectfully disagree with the above poster. I agree with the point that store bought soap is full of sythetics and mostly a cleanser, and not soap.

But good, high quality, handmade soap is FANTASTIC for the skin, and good for shaving. Especially soaps high in Olive Oil, it will help with the area before shaving.

A couple of other things. Use a lotion after you step out of the shower, and shave with the growth of the stubble, not against it. Of course, using a new razor frequently is always good.

I raced triathlong for about 15 years before retiring (olympic, 1/2 and Ironman distances), and I still swim like a mad dog, so I totally understand the whole stubble thing. :)

Hi J., I used to get the same thing happening to my skin after shaving. Part of it was due to shaving, the other part was due to the soap/shaving gel and lotions you are using. I found a fabulous product called Arbonne. I'd love to give you a sample of a couple of their products I know you'll love it!

Hi J.... looks like you've gotten a lot of response.
Two things that I have found that works great. A good body soap (I use Arbonne's RE9 Body wash) and Witch Hazel - you can find that at any local drug store/Target... After shaving, put that one. It's got a vinegar smell that will go away, but I've been using this rememdy for years and it helps me a lot.

Another thing I would recommend is using products like Nair...

Good luck,
R.
