I'm sorry, but timeshares are notoriously bad deals. I wish you luck.

Their maintenance fees are outlandishly expensive and have nothing to do with the reality of maintaining the one or two bedroom timeshare.

I have warned my kids against these since they first came out. IF (!!!) you have your timeshare financed by the company that sold it to you, then let them reposess it. You will come out ahead in the long run.

Good luck to you and yours.

We have tried selling a timeshare before and it is literally impossible. You can usually go through the timeshare management but they take a huge cut (about 40%ish). Would love to know if anyone else has had luck any other way. I do see people listing them on ebay?? Can't speak to how successful they are.

I have never owned a timeshare, so I don't have any personal experience to share, but I do know some people who had a good experience with The TImeshare Store. I don't know if they work with your particular company, but it couldn't hurt to check. http://www.timesharesale.com/

There's simply no market in "used" timeshares. If you price it low enough, you might be able to sell... but people aren't excited to pay the maintenance fee, transfer fees for the weeks, etc. It just doesn't come out to be a good deal in the short run (or long run).

I don't know anything about TSRS but I do know that most of the companies that want you to list with them take an enormous cut of the profits... like 50%. You'd probably be better off cutting your price in half and listing on eBay to see if it will sell there first.

My husband and I tried to sell out timeshare on the Las Vegas strip about 4 years ago with no luck for a whole year. Finally, we decided to walk away from it (voluntarily turn it back/suspend it). Luckily, we had paid more than half of the amount owed on the "mortgage" for it, so there weren't any major penalties. Talk to your company and see if this is an option for you. Worth a try!
