I always used Once Upon a Child (don't know if they are still open (my kids are teenagers now...). There was one across from Fox Valley Mall on Route 59. They had great prices on gently used items which I took advantage of as well....Good luck.

I have not had any problems with Craigslist so far, but I completely understand your feelings - if it happened to me, I wouldn't want to use them either.

Here are a few that I have found: www.maternityave.com, www.handmedowns.com/chicago (free listings, but can upgrade to premuim), www.schaumburgyardsales.com (they have this site for many other cities as well, so type in www.<your city name here>yardsales.com.

There is also a new one that just started recently - www.mom2momexchangecom, but they do charge a membership fee to list (it varies by how long you subscribe and how many postings you want - you can see the fee schedule by go to the Register link).

I don't know the success of sales on these sites. I do know that most of the items I was looking for on _________yardsales.com and www.handmedowns.com are sold VERY fast.

Good luck!

Are you able to have a garage sale? That takes time to set up, but it's free and can make good money. The year I sold my baby stuff I made $1,100. Of course I had 3 kids worth of stuff and a yard full of well-organized clothes and things.

If you can't have it at your home, maybe a family member or friend can offer up their driveway.

It's a couple days and everything is gone! Just price to your stuff to sell. You don't make any money on items that don't sell, regardless of their worth.

Hi,

You can find a "Once Upon A Baby" store near you bring your items to them and they call you the next day with a check ready for you. They do have specific requirements on baox sizes so I would say to go on the website to get all the information you need and to find the location closest to you. I have done this once and it was a easy transaction. Hope this helps.

I have bought and sold many things on craigslist and have not had any problems. I understand you being weary of wanting to use them again but if you do make sure you dont give your phone number ask for theirs so you can call with your number blocked at your conveinience, clearly put cash only on the add and do not agree to ship anything those are always scams, DO NOT have anyone come to your home always meet in a public place like a gas station or parking lot with lots of people around and never go alone always bring someone with you. Good luck and if you live in rockford what do you have for sale i am 6 months prego and looking for a few things to purchase for a resonable price so let me know thanks.

I would still try Craig's List. I have sold jewelry on there and found a wonderful tenant as well. My brother has furnished his entire home from there. Yes, I think I received one scam email, but the rest were all legit. There's always ebay too. My tenant buys TONS of stuff there and has got some amazing deals. Good luck!

I have sold several things on Ebay and have never had a problem. Plus, you are also protected by them. Some items you can probably get more for them on Ebay then at a garage sale.

You could get involved with a consignment event. There is one in 2 weeks in Hoffman Estates. They may still be looking for sellers.

Otherwise, I will still use Craigslist. I have had a few no shows and some low-ballers, but otherwise, I've had no problems.

Ebay. It's not free, but the listings usually run .35 for a 7 day posting (almost free). There is a final value fee that is taken...can't think off-hand how much it is, but it's not that much. I have sold a lot of my baby stuff on there and made way...more money than if I would have sold it at a garage sale. I sold an infant bath tub seat (the kind with the ring) on ebay for $27! It was used...isn't that crazy!

i am sure you will get lots of good info here, but if you want an easy way to get money for all items - just go to one of the stores that buy gently used, clean items. Thrifty Baby in Chicago is one of my favorites, but there are many others.
