Also check out the Lone Star Mint in Plano. They are very fair and reputable.
Can anyone recommend a reputable coin dealer? My mother has a lot of old coins and is interested in selling them. Anyone you have used that you trust? I really don't have a good idea of how to appraise them.

My uncle is a coin dealer he is located in forney, South Park Coins. 1-800-332-2646
We collect old coins, therefore we do buy and sell. One company we have used and we feel is fair is Dallas Gold & Silver. We have gone to a couple if the shows advertised on tv at local civic centers or hotels but we have not done business there. I'm sure there are some reputable dealers there.
We keep an inventory of exactly what we have. You can google ( I forgot the site) and get the fair market value for each coin. We have always done this before we deal so we know what range something is in value wise.
Do homework, then go check out what coin dealers will pay.
EDIT: Nita is right.....we have done business at Lone Star Mint as well. They are good.
Good luck.
My husband went on a toot last year and bought a bunch of coins on EBay. Then he sold them all on EBay. It kept him occupied for several months and he seems to have enjoyed it.
There are two books, the Red Book of Coins and the Blue Book of Coins that are the bibles for setting the price of coins.
If you'd like more information about it, e-mail me and I'll interrogate my husband further.
There's a place at the corner of Forest Lane and Inwood Road that we have heard good things about, but we have never bought or sold anything there. I'm not sure of the name...sorry!
