My husband and I have a very large colletion of China from when we married 17 years ago. Problem is that we are not "formal" people and hardly ever use it. To make space, I would like to sell it locally in Dallas (rather than sell it to replacements.com which requires expensive shipping). Does anyone know of any ideas or local store that might take it on consignment, etc? It is Nortake Gold - a fairly formal pattern of black and gold. I also have gold rimmed wine glasses and silverware.
Consignment Collection on Inwood in Dallas. Or Craigs List... that way you can cut out the middleman.
There is a consignment store on Inwood just north of Forest Lane. I'm sorry I don't know the name of it. Further north than the Walmart (or whatever is right there), but before the Tollway. I don't know if they will give you a good price. You might want to try selling it on Craigslist too.
There is a consignment store on West Lovers Lane just west of the tollroad by Rafa's Mexican Restaurant. They always have china in there but I can't tell you the name of it as all it says on the marquee is Consignment. Try there if you are close by.
http://www.replacements.com may be willing to purchase it, but you will most likely get more by offering it on E-Bay or directly in the newspaper. Replacements is a good place to check to see what they charge for your pieces. This will give you an idea what to price your china. Hopefully, it will protect you from dealers who want it for nothing and turn around and charge a bundle. Replacements, LTD. is usually priced a little higher than E-Bay, depending on the demand and availability of your pattern. Gosh, wish I had the extra cash, love your pattern! Good luck.
The first place I'd go is to Nina Ricks at Cobwebs Antiques & Consignments. They're in the McCall Plaza across the street from the Inter-Urban Museum in downtown Plano. I was in there the other day and she has a beautiful set of Limoge china on display right now. She displays things naturally, as on a dining table or in a china cabinet. Good luck!
The Consignment Collection which is at 12300 Inwood Road (by where Inwood Road and the Tollway intersect just north of Forest). This used to be the old location for the original Tolltag store.
You also might do a little research regarding the popularity of your Noritake Gold pattern via replacements.com or by just visiting the tableware sections at Dillard's, Macy's, etc. The trend tends to be more focused on platinum and silver rather than the gold rims and you might not get back as much money as you think it is worth. At least you will be a little more educated when you go to consign it through someone.

I don't know about local selling, but we sold our Noritake Randolph china several years ago on eBay. No problems and the gal who bought it loved it. We had the original boxes and packing for most of it. The buyer paid the shipping.

why not post it to www.craigslist.com? or take photos of it and place at bridal boutiques if they allow such. you never know... good luck.
There is an online site that sells old china patterns. Perhaps they would buy yours. I think it is called "replacements" or something similar. If you Google your china pattern's name, it may come up. Otherwise, eBay or Craig's List may be good resources. Good luck!
