I had my IUD removed for pregnancy-like symptoms. It was driving me crazy. I don't do well on birth control, so have been successfully using NFP. Good luck.

No method of birth control is 100% effective - so yes, it is very unlikely, but it does happen. Your should take a test if you suspect that you may be pregnant.

Pregnancies with an IUD in place have a higher chance of being ectopic, which is a life threatening condition. If you have an IUD in place and a positive pregnancy test you should see your doctor right away.

Good luck!

Yep. I got pregnant after a tubal ligation! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I did. I had the tubal ligation in college from Planned Parenthood because I thought I wanted to be a NYC career woman--I am SOOOOOOOOO glad it did not take! Planned Parenthood should NOT have done it. I was under 21. God and fate prevailed...

My MIL got pregnant twice on an IUD. She took it as a sign that God wanted her to have more children.

Yes. It's unlikely, but yes. The IUD does not prevent conception, it just makes it difficult for the fertilized egg to implant in the uterus and expels it. If you are pregnant, you need to have the IUD removed. This procedure often (but not always) dislodges the embryo as well.

Well, anything can happen, but it is supposed to be extremely effective at preventing them. But if you are worried about anything, go see your doctor because if you are having symptoms, there is probably something wrong. Good luck!

Depends but the only thing that prevents pregnancy is abstinence. IF you have the hormonal IUD I think it would be more difficult to suceed in pregnancy. However, not impossible. I personally had the copper IUD in and never once had a pregnancy scare. I had the IUD in for about almost 2 years. Although I could see how it would be easier for a pregnancy to occur with this one as well. Usually with IUD's its very difficult for a viable pregnancy to occur-they have even used IUD as a means to rid of the pregnancy depending on where you are at -I'm not saying it is an abortion by any means and IUD is very controversial-lets stay away from that. Yes-it's possible to become pregnant with an IUD however very unlikely but there is always that certain percentage of women that do!
