Seeking the Cheapest Diapers in Metro Area

Hello Fellow Diaper Mommies,

I used to buy my diapers at Babies R Us using a combo of an in store coupon and a manufacturer coupon. Babies R Us then raised the cost of their diapers so even with the combo of the two coupons I still feel like I am paying more money then I have to for diapers.

So, I was wondering, where do you buy your diapers? Where are the cheapest diapers in the metro area? Do you use a special combo of coupons or in-store deals to get the best deal out there?

I used to pay approximately 18 cents/diaper with my coupon combo tactic at Babies R Us, but since they have raised their prices I pay approximately 24 cents/diaper. I would like to get back down to under 20 cents/diaper if I can.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Aldi has pretty cheap diapers. They are either $5.99 or $6.99 for 40 of them. I've tried them and do like them. I have a 2 year old son and he doesn't wet through them. Good luck!

We buy Huggies at Sam's Club and have found buying in bulk if you want a name brand like Pampers or Huggies is the cheapest way to go. Sam's does not take coupons which is the only negative.

I have found that other than the store brands, diapers cost pretty much the same no matter where you buy them. Walmart is 2 cents cheaper than Target or Cub. A friend has told me that Babies R Us is the most expensive place to buy them. However, it took me several months to realize that the Baby Dry Pampers have 20 more diapers per container than the Cruisers, and the two types of Huggies are the same way. We've tried several store brands and just didn't care for them. We're super lucky though and get most of our diapers from Grandma.

I have bought diapers at Big Lots and they were the cheapest I could find at the time. They are $3.33/package, but I don't remember the amount diapers in the package. Of course the smaller the size, the more diapers you get in the pack.

I used to always use Pampers Cruisers until I tried Baby Basics from Cub Foods. They are good quality and for size 3 I pay around 16-18 cents per diaper. I often find that they are discounted. Different sizes cost different prices. My daughter wears their pull-ups which I prefer to the name brands and they cost around 24 cents per diaper. I also tried Target brand and hated them.

I always thought Target/Walmart was the cheapest place. They are $10/pack for Huggies/Pampers and Luvs is a little cheaper. Of course, buying in the bulk boxes are even cheaper than that per diaper. Also, constantly check out Target's specials. A lot of times, they have deals where if you buy diapers, you get a target gift card.

We've used Target brand diapers since our daughter was born 17 months ago. A box is just under $14.00 and the amount in each box depends on the size (size 4 is 92 diapers, works out to be about 14 cents/diaper). We haven't had any problems with leaking during the day, but at night we use Huggies Overnight diapers to make sure she doesn't leak when she's sleeping.

I used to be a strickly pampers mom until I tried Target brand diapers. Their Jumbo packs of 40 diapers cost around 5.75 a package. They really aren't that bad! I have had no leak problems. The only thing I would complain about is that they are not as stretchy on the sides as pampers are. I would give them a try, they really suprised me. My sister in law (who has a son) has switched too and she even likes them. She uses hers overnight and has had no leak problems either.

I also use Costco. The Kirkland brand is made my Huggies. Right now in the Costco coupon book, there is a 8$ off coupon, if you buy huggies and the wipes. I have twins and buy there huge boxes all too often. LOVE those coupons. Hoard them up. You canNOT use manufacturer coupons at Costco. Costco does not carry Pampers. I know managers, etc at Costco. Pampers will not go low enough in price for them to carry, which is why they have Huggies. I have had no problems with the quality of the Kirkland (Costco) store brand. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Costco. They support the kid's hospital I work at with fundrasing in the month of May. Costco usually shows UNIT PRICE by their products. I think they are 21 or 22 cents with OUT the coupon. Coupon good for two boxes per coupon/trip. 220 diapers a box I think????

I buy diapers at Costco. They sell brand names and their own brand, Kirkland. And while you're there... you can stock up on tons of things in bulk to save money. For example, I buy six pounds of ground beef and then seperate it myself into one pound packages and freeze them once I get home. Milk is cheap but I HATE the containers. They sell just about anything else you might need, including cheap kids clothes, toys, etc. I go weekly... but I also have three kids three and under so we need a lot of stuff!!

Have you considered cloth diapering?? It might cost a little bit more to get started with the pre-folds and covers but in the long run you save, well that is if you don't do your laundry at the laundry mat...Anyways another option would be cloth diapering at home and disposables when you go out. That worked well for us, that way you arn't lugging around soggy cloth diapers in your bag, etc. There are tons of websites to get you started with cloth diapers, and the mamas on this sight know a ton!! For cheap disposables, I would say Wal-Mart and Target brands. We couldn't use them because my daughter would get a rash. Luvs are great diapers for less!! Good Luck

If you are lucky enough to be able to use any diapers you can, I think people have really liked the Walmart or Target brands. The Walmsrt ones end up the cheapest I believe. I've had leak problems with all but Pamper Swaddlers. I buy those when they have the large boxes at Target. Not the largest ones on their regular shelves, but the special buys. Then I use my coupons.

There are a lot of people that like the Costco Kirkland diapers, but I'm not sure how much they average to be. Their wipes a great though!

Good luck!

THe target brand and walmart brand(white cloud) are both great diapers and are considerably less money than brand name diapers. I have three kids, and refused to spend that much on diapers. I usually bought the Target brand as the store in very conveinently located 5 blocks away. Plus, we have a Target card and 10% of your purchases goes to whatever school you choose to sponsor. I tried over diapers when my daughter was wetting through at night and did not see any better results.

I like Walmart's Parents choice diapers. For a size 4 BOX of 90 diapers I think it's just over $13.00. That's just over .14 per diaper.
Never had a problem with the diaper, since we switched to it.

I buy diapers at CVS when they are on sales (usually Pampers or Huggies) depending on the week. And then if you are an extra care member you get $ back on your next shopping trip. For example: This week if you spend $25 in huggies you get a $10 extra buck reward to use on your next shopping trip. Which i have gone back and used again on more diapers. You can use manufacture coupons too and it all helps to save $$

Good Luck!
