Seeking Summer Fun with Other Tots

I'm on maternity leave awaiting the birth of my third. I have a 4-year-old girl and a 13-month-old girl. I'll be home with all three for the summer. Looking for suggestions for things to get us out of the house...particularly somewhere to take my 13-month-old to begin playing with other kids her age. Thanks!

What can I do next?

M., I wonder where in Philadelphia you live? We do the swimclub every nice day, all summer long. You should look for that in your area. I know a friend who lives in East Falls/Roxborough area of Phila who loves her swim club. The baby pool/wading pool area is perfect for your little tots. Most swimclubs have a playground and a sandbox. Hopefully, you can get some time to sit and relax while watching your little ones play.

M.,
Hey - I am also due for my third, but not until June... Our oldest just turned 4 and my soon to be middle babe just turned 2! We are proud members at the Morris Arboretum in Chestnut Hill - it is amazing there and their programs with nature are incredible! It is so great to take the kids there and just let them run around. Plus, they have the garden railroad that is opening, I think at the end of May. In the summer, they also have the summer concert series in the open meadow and they usually have beer tasting and you can pack dinner as well. It is a great place if you love the outdoors!
We are both teachers (my husband and I) - although I have not returned once I gave birth (I taught kindergarten in Philadelphia) and we don't believe in sending our kids to any day camp since we are home all summer. We have gone camping in New England with both kids (but don't think we'll be doing that with a newborn!) and we frequent the shore. My husband is an avid gardner, so the kids do tons of gardening all summer long.
Best of luck to you and your family!
A.

Get a membership to the Philadelphia Zoo and Please Touch Museum. On hot days you can enjoy the air conditioned museum especially for kids and on nice days you can go to the zoo. Also, Sports Zone in Southampton has a great indoor play area for kids under 5 yrs old. There's also Sesame Place in Langhorne, they are just off Rt 1 and I-95. Their season passes are reasonable and they have something for all ages...my 8 yr old still loves the water rides.

We are in Middletown Township and their parks and rec have reasonably priced programs throughout the year as do many surrounding townships.

We also have Sesame Place passes and my 2 year old is loving them!
