Wonderful people!!!
My husband and I are expecting our first baby in October and I plan to return to work in late February/early March 2011. We're researching daycare options now as I know some places can have extensive waitlists. We live in the South San Jose and I work in Sunnyvale. Can anyone provide referrals to places that you've used or heard great things about?

Wonderful people!!!
I've used Neighborhood Christian Preschool (right off 280 and leigh) since my little one was 6 months old- don't know what their wait list is like right now but I contacted them when I was pregnant and got her on their radar and did not have a problem when the time came to start. Their infant "teachers" have been there for a very long time, their turn over in the other rooms is really low and we have been really happy with her care- she turns two Sunday!
I'm sorry I don't have any specific referrals, but I hope this helps. I live in San Francisco and had the same problem. I ended up finding a caregiver through my work community (I'm a teacher and found a mom from my school who took care of my daughter as if she were her own), so you may have success asking other parents you know from work. Maybe a co-worker has a stay at home spouse looking to make extra income. Another option is nanny-share; you and another family have the same nanny watch both your children in one of your homes. I don't know if these options are for you, but good luck with your search. It's a daunting experience!
My son, who is now 11, and my daughter who is 4 have/are currently in Char's Daycare, located in the Branham and Snell area close to Safeway. It is a great home care program that I believe is reasonably priced and there are great benefits. Her website is www.charsdaycare.com
I have looked into putting my son into another pre-k type program and for atleast double the price i would get 1/2 of what i was currently getting from Char. She did a wonderful job preparing my son for kindargarden. He was with her for almost 5 years and my daughter has been with her for over 3 years.
We love our in home daycare. Both of my daughters enjoy their time there. Her name is Janis O'hare and she in near highway 85 and Union. That is between South San Jose and Sunnyvale if you take highway 85. Her phone numver is ###-###-####. Just e-mail me if you have any questions.
CCLC in Sunnyvale is a great place! Both of our kids went there and we were extremely happy (9 years total). They have other centers around the bay area as well. The Sunnyvale location is on Duane Ave between Lawrence and Fair Oaks right off 101. Good luck!
My children have been enrolled at Bright Horizons @ San Jose since they were 6 weeks old. It is a learning center, with classrooms geared toward specific age groups (infants, toddlers, twos, preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten). I have spent a lot of time there (nursing each of my kids on my lunch hour until they were a year old), and I love the way it is run! The teachers are loving and amazing. The administration is great. There is an on-site chef. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon and early evening snacks are all provided, with special attention placed on individual childrens' dietary needs or restrictions. The curriculum is age-appropriate. My kids love going there and have learned so much! I have been very pleased in the 5+ years that we have been enrolled at the center. The address is 6120 Liska Lane, San Jose, 95119. Phone: ###-###-####. It is located right next to the Kaiser Santa Teresa hospital. It is worth a tour! Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information. I am in the Parent Partnership Group for the center. Whatever daycare or learning center you choose, make sure it is NAEYC certified (a very strict certification process). Congratulations on your first baby! Good luck with your decision.
