Does anyone know of a great preschool in the Lake Orion/Oxford/Clarkston area? My son will be 4 in September and we're ready for three days, two hours or so per day. Thank you so much.

Thank you all for the wonderful advice. We chose A School for the Mind and Body and are thrilled with their program. Thanks again for all of the responses.

My daughter went to Clarkston Co-op last year for the 4's program and loved it. Her teacher Mrs. French and Mrs. Tice are amazing and have been teaching pre-school forever. You do have to make a commitment to volunteer in the classroom 1-2 times a month depending on class size, but that also makes the expirience shared with you and your child. http://www.clarkstoncooppreschool.com/

I was not sure at first, because I had gone to full time outside the home to suddenly home. However, she had an amazing time and she learned so much even though it is play based.

Hi R.,

The community preschools in the Lake Orion district are great. You will find that the Lake Orion district has a higher level of expectations than the Oxford and Clarkston schools. They really work with your child to make sure they are ready to enter kindergarten. They will modify what they are working on to fit your childs level of progress so your child is challenged but not overwhelmed. You can go to the district website for information or call the Early Childhood Office at the CERC building on Scripps Rd. All three of my boys excelled through the preschool classes and continue to excel. www.lakeorion.k12.mi.us Early Childhood Office: ###-###-####

Hope this helps - S.

I know of a FANTASTIC preschool/daycare just off of M-24 in Metamora called Little Miracles. They have a preschool program that actually runs from about 9-12ish and is well worth it. When we had my son there he went 5 hours twice a week, it was like $22/5 hours. While we had to pull him out due to unemployment in our house, I intend on sending my youngest (almost 3) there as soon as my husband has a job again. My 5 year old, even though not there anymore, is reading at a first grade level mostly due to them. I also know that he will be ahead of the class in many areas due to how they taught him at Little Miracles.
It may be a little bit out of the way for you, but I promise it is VERY worth it. Tammy and the rest of her staff love the kids and try really hard to use Love & Logic.
