I'm looking for a quality preschool program in the White Lake/Clarkston area that you can recommend. My son is currently attending a Clarkston daycare that I am unhappy with, so we are switching to nanny care, but I would like him to continue in preschool classes. He's 3. I'm aware of Funshine and am interested, but it is only two days a week for 3 year olds and I would ideally like something more often, or for slightly longer during the day.

What can I do next?

My three year old goes to Cedar Crest Academy - near 75 and Dixie Hwy. (Private school and daycare from infant up to 8th grade I think). I have the option of three days a week or five days a week, three hours each day. My husband was a stay at home Dad with my boys and my three year old has absolutely flourished since being enrolled. They do music, spanish and p.e. as well as reading, social studies, motor skills, etc. I also like that they have optional daycare if I need him to stay a little extra I just let them know in the morning. I know he also has a classmate from White Lake if you live over there.

Hi J.,

My daughter has been attending Montessori School of Clarkston since she was 2, she is now in the kindergarten class there. She loves it, we love it! They have a toddler class for 2 and 3 year olds that is wonderful! I think right now they only have 4 or 5 kids in the class so you really are 1 to 1. The teachers are great! The curriculum is wonderful, it allows for each child to learn at their own speed, but allows for learning and for playing. It is located on Ortonville Road towards Ortonville from Clarkston.

My suggestion is that you call the school to see if you can go in and observe, with your child. It is wonderful! Again, Mostessori School of Clarkston. Let me know what you think.

Good luck! Try it, I really think you will be happy you did!

My kids attend Lil Peoples daycare (off Sashabaw), and my oldest is in the preschool program. She's full time, but I know that there are some kids that are part time.

If you are trying to supplement Funshine (which, when I was researching was pretty expensive), Stars and Stripes Gymnastics has one day a week classes. There's also Kindermusik on Main Street in Clarkston. My sister-in-law basically hobbled together a preschool program for her 2 year old using one day a week programs, and these are the ones that I here her talk about the most.

Hi J.,

I send both of my sons (2 1/2 and 4) to Miss Carolyn's Montessori in Waterford. I know its not in your designated area, but it is truly worth going out of the way a little bit!

Her website is www.misscarolynsmontessori.com

The best part about it, is that not only does she give lessons on regular age appropriate academics - but she truly focuses on making them good citizens. It is adorable. She is Christian based, so they do a bible story every morning as well as the Pledge of Allegiance, and sing It's a Grand Old Flag.

She offers full time and part time - and her rates are cheaper then most area preschools and daycare! She takes a maximum of 6 children, so the children receive a lot of special individual attention.

I could go on and on! Feel free to message me if you are interested.

Good luck!

I am pretty sure Children's Ark is 3 days a week for 3 year olds, my neighbors daughter goes there and loves it. It is at Dixie near 75 in Clarkston. You are going to have a hard time finding much with 3 days a week for that age, maybe go with a 2 day program and find something else for the Nanny to do with your child on the other day such as sumplemental class like swimming, sports, a foreign language, music, etc.
