You can always look into church playgroups. They do have the MOPS. (mothers of preschoolers) They have morning and evening MOPS for a few hours. YOu can also try the ymca.
I am at home with my 1yr old daughter on wed, thurs & Fridays. She is with her cousins 2 days a week so not suffering from lack of playmates but I would love to get her involved with a playgroup where I could be involved in her activities. Working full time over the weekends I miss out on seeing her interacting with people. I love my time at home with her 1 on 1 but feel like I want to be more involved in seeing her evolve socially and would also enjoy interacting with other moms although I can be quite shy! We are on a pretty tight budget so taking her to pools, gyms etc are usually out of the question.

HI there!
I'm new to this site, but I too, am looking for a playgroup meetup. I have tried meetup.com but haven't really found what I am looking for there. My church is rather small right now and there are no others with babies there, so that is out. if you are interested in starting one of our own, that would be great! It seems there is not enough opportunities to do such get togethers! The library's Baby & Me Storytime is pretty decent, we go there every Tuesday usually, including today (in Lynnwood), but I would like something a little more interactive between mom's as well. Let me know what you think!

I'm in a somewhat similar situation only my work schedule is Monday through Friday. I have a long commute so I leave early and get home too late at night to do anything other than make dinner and put the kiddo (20 months old) to bed. She's in a great daycare and has a lot of friends and teachers who love her, but I'd like to be more of a participant as well - plus I'm shy too and have barely made any friends since moving up here seven years ago. (Although I know my work schedule is much to blame too.)
Have you checked your local library? A number of them have storytimes for babies/toddlers and perhaps that could be just the place to kind of get acquainted with other moms in a low-key setting. I'd do that myself, but they seem to always be held during the week.
Just a thought.
WWW.Meetup.com is a great place to find playgroups. I belong to 2 of them and they are in every city and our great groups of moms. They have different playdate on different days so every mom can get a chance to go.
