anyone know a good orthodontist in the wc or ph area? my daughter just had an eval and i am looking at getting a second opinion. she is only 7 and already they are telling me she needs two rounds of braces! people have told me that you can barter with the dr.s and i'm wondering if anyone has done that with any success. 9K seems a bit much! thanks, L.

What can I do next?

Hi L., I work for a dentist who does orthodontics ( located in Pleasanton ) Ask around... do her friends have orthodontia ? Get 3-4 evaluations before deciding who is right for you. You will be spending a lot of time there ( usually every 4-6 weeks ) for a few years so make sure you feel comfortable with the doctor and that it is convenient for you in case of an emergency visit is needed ( broke wire or you need an adjustment ) Try the Berkeley Parents Network for recommendations & for 2 rounds of braces, 9 K is about the going rate. This all depends on time in treatment too. Who has your general DDS recommended ?

Good Luck

Doctor Cuenin in Danville is amazing. I had several consultations for myself that said immediately that I needed jaw surgery. He felt this was drastic and was able to correct my bite without surgery. I also took my son to him. He is very good and compassionate.

We have been using DR Stephen E. Ludwig, in Concord. My daughter is on phase 2 of the 2 phases. She is 14. Started phase 1 in the 4th grade at the age 9. They thought at 9 she might be too old, but she wasn't. They want to be able to move the teeth and adjust the jaw bone and palate. She had something called arch expansion in phase 1. There was a bit of time between phases because it took her a long time to lose all her baby teeth. They start phase 2 when the baby teeth are gone.

He is located just off Ygnacio Blvd. at 1494 Washington Blvd. Ste. D Concord, CA

That is just one block south of Ygnacio and Clayton Rd. intersection. His office plaza is on the intersection of Clayton Rd. and Washington Blvd.

They might do free consultations. You could call.

Tell them Cathy Lindberg referred you, Nicole's mom.

PS They offered us a 5% discount if we paid in full at the start of each phase, so we did. It is more like 7k not 9k. We paid about $3,500 each phase. Sounds like a good idea to look around just for the price!

Don't know anything about bartering, but I can highly recommend either Dr. Cuenin in Danville, or Dr. Lieber in Walnut Creek. They're both excellent. I worked in a dental office and we routinely referred patients to both of those practices.

We really like Dr. Brian Hockel. He is a very kind man and we highly recommend his work. He is a dentist who also practices orthodontia. He is on Oak Grove and his number is ###-###-####.
