Seeking Nice Hotel or B&B on the Northside of Chicago

I'd appreciate any recommendations for a nice hotel or B&B on the northside of Chicago. My parents are coming to visit for Christmas, and we don't have room for them in our apartment since the baby's stuff takes up all our extra room. They'd prefer not to stay downtown.

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for all the great recommendations. My folks have decided to stay downtown due to financial considerations, but I'm glad to have a list of nice neighborhood places next time someone asks.

We've had family stay at the Belden-Stratford in Lincoln Park, i belive it is on Cannon Drive? It's right across the street from Lincoln Park Zoo. Have also had family stay at the Lincoln Park Inn and the Days Inn, both on Diversey Pkwy. Good luck!

We have stayed and also had guests stay at The Willows on Surf (right near Diversey/Broadway). It's a great place - rooms are nice - and many things, including the lakefront, are within walking distance. It's quiet, too, which is nice for people not used to the background noise of a city.

There are 2 I know of in Bucktown: Ray's Bucktown B&B and the Bucktown Respite. You can google either for more information.

The Ruby Room on Division near Wood is absolutely gorgeous. They have a full service salon and spa, a yoga studio and a courtyard with a beautiful waterfall. They don't have many rooms, but if you look on their website you can see how gorgeous they are. Hope this helps.

Have you heard of Vacation Rental By Owner (VRBO.com?) I haven't used this service in Chicago, but I've used it for places in California and so have family/friends and I've always heard good reviews. There are a ton of Chicago listings. Maybe something will work?

I know there is one on Halsted near Addison. Villa Toscana- http://www.villa-toscana.com/bed.html
It looks charming, but it's in Boystown, so I don't know how you or your parents feel about that. But you know they will make fine hosts! :)

Hi Lisa!

I enthusiastically recommend Windy City Urban Inn ###-###-####), which is just off Clark St. on Deming and very convenient to everything on the North Side. Mary Shaw is your hostess and she is a blast. If you want other possibilities, I will self-promote shamelessly and suggest my book, "Romantic Days and Nights in Chicago," which has a million fun ideas and a very nice gift for your parents and anyone else visiting or even living here! "Romantic" is in the local travel section of all bookstores -- B&N, Borders, Women & Children First, et al -- and I hope you enjoy it!

Viva Chicago, viva romance!

Hi L.-
My husband's family always stay at the Orrington in Evanston when they visit. I know it's not Chicago, but we live on the northside so it's not that far. It's right in downtown Evanston. Hope this helps.
