Target still has them online even though they don't carry them in the store right now. Under $30. Good luck!
Hi moms,
Does anyone know of a place in Houston where I can buy a nap mat? It seems that Target and Wal-Mart only carry them just before school starts. I've seen some online stores that sell nap mats for $80+, but I definitely don't want to spend that much!
Thanks!
What I failed to mention in my original post is that my son does have one of the plastic mats on which he sleeps at school (I bought it just before school started), but each week I send him two clean blankets, and one of the weeks, his blankets went missing. Because of that, I wanted him to have an all-in-one nap mat that rolls up and velcros shut (unlike the ones at Target and JCPenney), to prevent another loss.
I went ahead and ordered a nap mat from www.lillianvernon.com (thanks Mama Lisa!!), and I can't wait to get it. I'm sure his teacher will appreciate not having to deal with three things: the plastic mat, blanket #1, and blanket #2. Plus, it'll be easier for my son to hold/handle.
Thanks for all of your replies!

Lillian Vernon on-line has some really cute ones....Lily's kids is the catalog it is in, but you can get to it from www.lillianvernon.com
Napmatsetc.com has fantastic nap mats. They are made locally in the Houston area, so you get them within 2-3 days of ordering. They are a bit pricey at $60, but they are by far the best quality that I've ever seen. My munchkin absolutely LOVES hers. We take it with us when going to a friends for dinner or to visit grandparents. She will even cuddle up with it on the couch. Hope this helps!
I am not sure where you live? I actually have one that I was going to throw out. It is very clean. My daughter used it at mothers-day-out and they used a sheet on it. its plastic and can be wiped down. I wrote her name on one side with a sharpie but other than that it is super clean. She is now at a school where she doesn't take naps. I would just give it to you if you would like it! Thanks!
There is a store called Crystal's Teacher Supply. You can call them instead of wasting a trip. Sugar Land telephone number is ###-###-####. Houston number is ###-###-####. They do a lot of item transfers between the two stores. And if neither store has the mats now, they can special order one for you and get it in a week or two. Good luck! Sleeping mats are tough to find mid-school year.
If you can use the padded blanket type, they have them at jcpenneys. You might have to order one on line, but they are about $20. My daughter has one of these that she used for about 2 years (the daycare provides nap mats with sheets on them so we don't use it now). I think she liked that it had the blanket with it. I liked that the blanket was attached and that it was machine washable.
For the plastic covered, 1 inch thick mats, you might be able to find them at a local teacher supply store. You can also google it and then order online. I did a quick search and found them for less than $20 at gooddeals.com. I haven't bought from them, but just did quick search.
Good luck!
I think Lakeshore Learning store does.
