Dear A.,
I don't think anyone would argue the point that there are some processes in the brain not working perfectly that are causing your son to struggle. His issues with reading and school are the symptoms of some disorganization in the processes of seeing and visually understanding information.
Also of note is that Dr. David Sousa, in the book How the Brain Learns to Read, presents solid research that concludes that up to 80% of children diagnosed with dyslexia have auditory processing struggles. This is something rarely addressed by traditional programs and one of the limitations in their success record.
I would love to invite you to a seminar this Saturday (May 30) about brain development. During this class, you will learn how the brain develops, and how to stimulate brain growth in order to improve function. As a mother, I have used the program successfully to cure my daughter of dyslexia in less than 1 school year. That was 5 years ago, and she is now in the PACE program (gifted learners) and a standout on the track team and the only person from her whole middle school to be selected for All-Region Mixed Choir. Bottom line---she is doing beautifully when every day used to be a HUGE struggle.
Please private message me if you would like more info about the class.
