Our family recently moved here from the Austin area just over a month ago. I am looking for a playgroup or mom group of children who are around age 2. I want to keep my 2 year old busy while the older 3 are at school. I love to take her for walks and to parks but would like to have someone for her to play with, not to mention another mom to talk to.
Im with you S. let me know what you find. I recently went part-time, and would love to get involved with a playgroup. I have a 3 year old dd. and we are trying for number 2. All of my friends work-full time or have older children, I'm very interested in forming new friendships with people at the same stage of life as us.
i highly recommend meetup.com. it is an easy way to find moms groups in your area. i live in mckinney and found a great one that is just for my neighborhood. i noticed that there is also one for moms of babies born in 2006. there are tons of choices and it's free to check them out.

I'm in a Stroller Strides / McKinney exercise group that also has playdates and is a good group of women to get to know. Our kids range from newborn to toddlers in the class and then some of us have older kids, too. Lots of meetups for playgroups and activites.

Go to www.meetup.com and join the group Co.Co. Moms (Collin County Moms). I belong, and we do LOTS of activities with kids - several times a week!! Everyone I have met is really nice, and the ages of the kids would be perfect for your kiddo.

Hi S.! Go to www.momsclub.org and you can find the McKinney chapter to join. Other great groups are the McKinney early childhood PTA and www.mops.org. You could also join some fun preschool classes through your parks and rec, ASI gymnastics (or something similar), Kindermusic, Gymboree, etc. There's a free magazine called North Texas Kids you can pick up at local kid's stores or attractions. It has lots of info and activities there as well as a website.

Hi S.! Welcome to McKinney! I have a couple of groups to recommend. My church has two: a mom's group, called the Sarah Ministry, that meets on the second Monday morning of each month. The focus is on moms--today we're having a speaker on health and nutrition--and childcare is provided for the kids. We also have a play group for the kids on Wednesday morning. Both of these are at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
I'm also involved in a new playgroup for moms and kids who live in the historic district. If you're on this side of town, PM me and I can give you more info. GL! There are lots of nice folks here, I'm sure you'll make friends soon!
