Hello!! I just moved here about 3 weeks ago from Maryland. We live in the Town N Country/Westchase area. As of now, I am unemployed (hate that! Someone please get me a job!! haha), and my son and I don't know what to do! My fiance is a veterinarian, so he works a lot of hours. My son is 6 months old, and he loves to be outside!! Can any of you suggest maybe things to do around this area, or does anyone know of a mommy group?

Thank you!!

What can I do next?

There is a great Moms Club in Westchase - check out the information at momsclubofwestchasesouth.com for contact information. The group is divided into the children's age groups, so you'd be in the infant group. This group is getting so big that it will be sub-dividing in the fall. Great group of women - most stay at home, but a few of us work flexible schedules. There are some great women in the group. Usually we meet at someone's home or at a park lunchtime on Tuesdays. Welcome to the area!

Hey:)
I live in the Westchase area. I am not in a mommy group though. However, I know there is one.
I find they really aren't for working moms like myself. Which is understandable.
Anyway, let me know if you need ideas of parks and things to do. My son is 3.5 and I've raised him in this area. ;)

Checkout the local libraries for their programs. Also, check out www.musicwithmar.com These classes are inexpensive and a great way to meet other moms.

I did the mommy group thing..Wasn't for me. I don't really enjoy the obligatory small talk/diaper talk. Then they want to call you at home with all their problems, or they need favors..It sucks but ya really have to watch out for the "what can you do for me's"...You're better off taking him to a park solo, and just talk to whoever is there at the time. Small kids don't care that it's different kids all the time...Plus, you aren't obligated to anything when you want to go home, and ya don't have to get involved in their personal lives..If someone does say, "let's get together sometime". I just tell them, with an exhausted but nice tone, that I work part timne too, and don't have time and will see them when I see them...No one ever gets offened if you say it right..Don't mind me though, I'm more of a loner type myself, from too many prior "high maintenance" friendships...If you aren't like that, and are someone who is looking for friends to get intimate with, just procede w/caution..Ya may luck out and meet someone cool...

Hi J.,
I am a certified instructor with Music with Mar. and we have fun, interactive music and movement classes throughout the community for ages 0-6. Classes do not teach music, but use music to teach basic developmental skills (social, motor, language). Prices are per family, not per child! For a schedule and for more info, check out www.musicwithmar.com. I teach in Tampa & Oldsmar.
