Hello Everyone! I have a 1 year old and live in the Hartland/Fenton area. I really want to find a group that we could get together with to start having more time with other kids around his age. Even though I have some friends that stay home with their kids, it has been nearly impossible to find any groups or activities closer to home. Is anyone out there looking or found the same thing?

My husband, daughter (6.5mos) and I will be moving back to Howell shortly where we have a home there. I have been looking online for mommy groups and playgroups... to no avail. If I come across anything in the Hartland area, I will let you know.
SKIP is a school-based, school readiness program that is free of charge. You would need to live in the Fenton school district to join, though. It is a playgroup for children 0-5. They have playgroups 7 times a week--Monday mornings and evenings; Tuesday mornings and afternoons; Thursday mornings and afternoons; Friday mornings. You basically pick which time is good for you. The basic structure is the children come in and do free play. Then the teacher reads a story and everyone sings a song. After that a craft goes along with the book that was read, either painting, coloring, gluing, etc. Then the children have a snack and can free play again. Finally, if it's nice we walk around the playground and can play on the playground equipment. The SKIP classroom is at North Road Elementary School. The class is 1 hour and 15 minutes long. You are also able to go more than once a week. The teacher is wonderful--Melanie. You could contact the school and ask to leave a message for Melanie. This is a great program. Oh, they also do home visits once a month if you are interested, where the teacher comes to the house and brings activities to do with the kids. Good luck! I've really loved this program.

You have to request to join. Cara the organizer will then get you all set up. You have to meet her before she lets you join for the safety of all the families, which is nice since it's based on line. We meet about once a week either at a business, park(in the summer) or someones home. You can opt to have e-mails sent to you when the calander is updated or changed and you also get reminders of up coming events. I love that, since I have mommy brain most days.

I have also been seaching for Playgroups and children's activities in the Fenton area! I was bummed that I hadn't really found anything. I have a 6 month old daughter and I would really like to be able to hang out with other moms that have kids around her age. I did sign her up for swimming classes in Hartland. I went through the Hartland Community Education page. But I was kind of hoping to find some sort of mommy and me class or something.
