Hi Moms - I've been reading this site for the past few months, but this is my first time posting a question. I have a very active 4 month old boy. He's my first, and I work at home, so he doesn't interact with other children that often and I don't get to meet other moms. I'm looking for fun things to do with him out of the house. We live near Tyson's Corner and visit the local libraries when there's story time for the 0 - 12 month old group, but I'm looking for something a little active. We're going to try The Little Gym in Fairfax this afternoon, but if that doesn't work out, does anyone have suggestions for other places to try? If it helps, I'd prefer to not have to drive into Alexandria or Springfield if I can help it but I don't mind heading out as far as Chantilly or Sterling. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi there , I am also in Vienna. Have you joined the Vienna mom's group? www.bigtent.com is the site that you subscribe to , has an annual fee of $25 , they will match you to an age appropriate playgroup , even if you cannot go along to groups there is always useful info from other parents. Also the Vienna community center does some classes for little ones so worth checking out that website. Monkey Business in Falls Church has open play (your little one is too young at the moment but keep in mind for when he is crawling) , Monkey business also does some music & movement classes for younger babies/toddlers and mom's.

Cannot think of anything else off the top of my head but will update if I do.

Fairfax county parks and recreation offers great classes for little ones although I think 4 months is a little too young. You can check out their website at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks.

The Little Gym was great for us. We also liked the music and movement programs like Kindermusik and Music Together. Have fun!

I know you wrote this a while ago, but you should check out La La Music & Movement with Ms. Lolly... it is Mommy and Me type of classes for kids 1 year to 5 years old. It is super fun and very affordable! Website is www.MsLolly.com

Hi T.,

Try MoBu kids in Falls Church. It's not too far from Tysons, and they have classes for infants. I believe they also have a group for new moms. My daughter was too old by the time they started the new moms group, but I probably would have joined it since I really enjoyed the Music and Movement classes my daughter took there as a baby. Here's the link: http://www.mobukids.com/

You can also check local churches and community centers (as suggested below) for new moms groups. Good luck finding something!

Try meetup.com to find your local mom's group. The one for Tysons Corner is:
http://www.meetup.com/TYMOMS/

usually this is the best place to meet other moms and find local activities.
