Does anyone know how to completly cover gray roots (without seeing the colour difference between your hair and the roots) in the finished look. Regardless of what expensive hairdresser I go to, not one has been able to match the roots to the rest of the head. They always remain lighter. I have also tried pre softening the roots w/peroxide before colouring but to no avail. HELP!

try paul schmidt at denovo salon on oak lawn. he is awesome and he does hair shows. i dont know how much he charges for coloring, but he is easy to talk to and will let you know.
I second Tiffany at LA Hair Studio. She's terrific and very affordable. I have no gray roots when she'd finished with me. Now, of course, the gray roots begin to show a little when the hair grows out; but, Tiffany takes care of me each month and the gray only shows a little and for a little while.

Try Habitude Salon at the Locks in Ballard. John is their education director and a fantastic stylist with 20 or 30 years experience. You may need to get all-over color the first time and then touch up the gray, but he will take great care of you.
Victoria is a bit too long of a drive. Is your stylest only covering the gray roots and not dying the entire hair?!?!?! they should do the whole hair. Think about if you touched up paint on a wall.You will always be able to tell espically if its a big patch or all the trim (roots). Sun fades things your hair included. I think you need to do the whole head of hair to get the matching your looking for.

A good hairdresser should be able to, that's pretty basic. Roots take the color differently. I started going gray at 19 so I've been coloring my own hair mostly for 25 years. If you're going to remove the color first with bleach, which I do a couple times a year, you have to do pretty much the whole head, or else in streaks from roots to tip. Then apply the color you want - I like an ash shade of blonde & bleaching alone gives me bicycle-messenger orange. I'm fanatic about roots showing, so I touch up once a month. There's some good products out there, Natural Match being one. Be very careful not to do highlights too close to the head - start an inch or two out. And don't let the bleach get on the surrounding hair., or have globs that give it away as a home job - wrap the pieces in foil. Good Luck
