Seeking Good Fabric Store

Hi moms,

Can anyone recommend a really good fabric store in Central Mass or MetroWest? I'm willing to drive a little more than normal if necessary. My favorite store, The Fabric Place in Framingham, closed recently and I'm devastated. I have been to JoAnne Fabrics in Shrewsbury and Natick but they just don't have the supply I need. I'm looking for drapery and slipcover fabrics mostly. I loved the places that would give you a little sample to take home and match against the furniture, rugs, etc. JoAnne stores have designer samples but I don't think you can cut those and take them home. It's much easier for me to look at a big bolt of fabric in the store and get a picture of what it will look like, then take a few swatches home to confirm. Also, the bigger stores usually have a better range of prices - I'm not able to spend a fortune. If you have ideas, I would appreciate it!

What can I do next?

I second the Chinatown suggestion. When I got married, albeit nearly 20 years ago, I worked at the Wang Center for the Performing Arts and found a fabric shop right on Kneeland(?) Street. I bought beautiful French lace for my wedding dress, then went to the Fabric Place for the satin. I haven't been down there for years but would love to know what you find!

Hi! My mother and I were discussing the same issue today. A friend told her to go to Chinatown. There are several stores there where you can find beautiful and inexpensive fabrics. We'll be attempting a trip to Chinatown soon. Let's hope there are good finds there!
Good luck!
