Sofa & Fabric Question

I am thinking about recovering my sofa to match our new house rather than buying a new one. I am looking for recommendations for a company or person who will do a good job and charge a fair price. Also, what are your favorite fabric stores? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi K., I have moved into a new home and need some upholstering too. There is a store called Berkley Fabrics on 121 & Ohio. I stopped in there to check them out. Their prices for labor are very fair and their work is wonderful. You can either buy the fabrics from them (at a discount) or bring your own (purchased elsewhere). I have an appointment for them to come to my house this month.

Did you look into Childress Fabrics? They have lots of fabrics there. They may even do the upholstery. They have two locations in Dallas and Frisco. Their website isn't the greatest, but it will give you the locations and contact info: www.childressfabrics.com

Also, Hancock Fabrics in Plano has some nice fabric selections, although not nearly as much as Childress.

Hi K.,
I can highly recommend this person, Chuck Broerman of Chuck's Custom Upholstery. He is independant. I got his name from a friend, and I have used him three times. He has re-done 2 chairs, an ottoman and our gliding rocker. I have not had a single problem with anything he has ever done. He is friendly, honest, reasonably priced, and timely. He lives in Frisco. I believe he now charges a delivery fee (due to high gas prices). Call him and talk to him about what you need. He is very good at recommending fabric stores, and explaining to you over the phone, how much fabric you'd need to buy, etc. I bought all of my upholstery fabric from Cutting Corners, but I am sure he can tell you about places close to you as well. Good luck, and I hope you end up using him!
