I like Weirs at Knox Henderson in Dallas. They also have an outlet store just a few streets down with great prices.
Hi everyone! We're in the process of buying a home and will need furniture for several of the rooms (living/BR's, etc). We had a GREAT place in CA - a small store that was more of a distributor, and got a full bedroom for around 3000 (very sturdy construction and very nice wood). Is there anything like that around the N. Dallas/Richardson area - not "cheap", but not chain priced? I think we'd be willing to travel a bit if the shipping wasn't rediculously expensive. Thanks!
Thanks everyone for all your help and advice! We went to The Dump and WOW - great stuff at great prices. Very well constructed, beautiful furniture. We've furnished our livingroom and dining room and bookcases for VERY reasonable cost. I recommend this place to everyone!

Hi P.,
I work at a furniture store in Plano Far Fetched Imported Furniture. We sell imported furniture from Indonesia and India. Really beautiful pieces hand crafted solid wood and decent prices. We are having a sale right now 15%-40% off. We are located at 5813 Preston Rd Plano TX 75093. At the corner of Spring Creek and Preston Rd. There are a few other furniture stores nearby you might also want to check out.
PS We are next to Weirs in Plano.

Hi P.,
Welcome to Dallas! I second IKEA. They're very reasonable.
I'd also give The Dump a try. They are only open on weeekends and their inventory changes. But, the prices and selection are usually great. www.thedump.com
Good luck!

Hi P. welcome to Dallas!!!!!
Well me personally I LOVE IKEA...it's located in Frisco...just go up the North Toll way you cant miss it is a Big Blue building with the word Ikea on top of it...anyways if you don't want to spend too much money this is the place ...and if u are worried about shipping...well you can haul everything yourself...they have trucks there that you can rent...although it depends what you are looking for the only draw back is that everything you buy...you have to build it yourself...but it so is easy the manuals come in pictures...it depends on everyones preference...I like it...i hope you do too...oooh by the way if you get there before 11:00am you can go to the cafeteria a get breakfast for 99 cents...and its not bad at all...their lunches are really good too...
Have fun searching and God Bless you and your family!
The only thing Rooms to Go is good for, is if you need furniture right now and have no cash! We bought pieces when we where first married and very young. Also boughht the warrenty. Well the cushin (sp?) got a whole from underneath and the warrenty did not cover much. Very overpriced and definately not worth it!! I might be trying Weirs soon after reading all the comments! Good Luck, L.
My suggestion would be Ikea. I think they have the best prices in the area.

P.,
Try Rooms to Go. If you google them, you can find their site. They have nice furniture at REALLY low prices. I have checked out other furniture stores in the area, and I can't see a difference in quality, but I CAN see a difference in price.
Actually, I can see a difference in quality. DON'T GO to The Room Store! You might as well be buying Wal-Mart furniture. (Which I have plenty of, so I know how quickly it goes down the drain! :)) We went to The Room Store, had a sales rep show us how this table worked, and it broke. We left.
Good luck, and let me know if you find a better deal than Rooms To Go!

If you are o.k. with simple design, and assembling the furniture yourself, you can't beat the prices at Ikea.
It is on 121 and Dallas North Tollway.

Theres a place in Plano (springcreek and 75) next to Garden Ridge I can't think of the name, but they have beautiful upper-end type furniture and I thought their prices were really great. Check there. Also you might want to check into Direct Buy. We have a membership where you buy furniture directly from the manufacture so you save TONS of money.
I don't know anything about distributors but we have found some good furniture at Weirs in Plano and Knox/Henderson locaion. You can get good quality products at Weirs and they stand behind their products.
We got our dining and breakfast tables at Amish Furniture Showcase in Frisco. It is pricey but they are fantastic and worth every penny.
We got a leather family room set from Dillards about 7 yrs ago and love it.
I am not one to shop at discount places and then end up replacing the furniture within a couple of years. I like to buy high quality first and then maintain it and keep it.

Check out Cowhide Western Furniture if you are intersted in high quality leather furniture. I have an ebay store that sells it - or you can go to www.cowhidewesternfurniture.com and click on go to ebay. On ebay we offer free shipping and accept best offers, but please be aware that this is custom made to order furniture an is not "cheap"! :)
If you shop online...check this out!
Ok guys! I have done most of my shopping online since gas is so expensive and I hate to shop with little ones. So, after talking with a friend of mine, she mentioned this company to me that is contracted with over 200,000 merchants to actually pay us for shopping online with them. I could've gotten paid for almost everything I bought this week!! (If I would've bought Halo 3 for XBox 360 here, I would've saved 16% AND got money back!) I may even return a few things in order to make some money while saving money. I checked it out and then got really excited and I'm sending the link to you.
Before you spend any more money, go to the first link and click on the video to hear from the guy who started it all...he explains how it works. Then, if you are interested or just want to check out what companies are involved (like I did at first) then click on the second link. Target just joined on Wednesday but they aren't listed yet. It takes a few days to get the new companies updated. Let me know what you think!
