Go with your gut, you know what is best for him. Friends and community or being "challenged".
Hi - my husband and I have two sons, 6 and 4 - the 6-year-old is in first grade at our local Lincoln Elementary, which is highly regarded, but he doesn't feel challenged enough. We had him tested and were just told we can have a spot in Skinner Elementary for next year- if we reply by MONDAY. We're excited, but worried about making a bad choice. I hope to get to tour the school today if possible. Greatschools.net shows amazing test scores (over 95% in most rankings). The downside I guess would be that most kids will be from all over town, so it will be less of a "community" feel, Anybody have experience with Skinner.

One of my students had gone there and was very stressed and felt lots of pressure. Just another aspect to consider depending on your child.
Hi,
Skinner is an excellent elementary school! If I were you I'd place him there. There are many great schools, but there are some you don't want to pass up. I have visited that school and I was very pleased with my experience there.
All The Best,

Dear E. G., Skinner Elementary is one of Chicago's finest institutions. It is also the number one "feeder" school for Whitney M. Young High School. By enrolling your boys in Skinner you and your husband will have made one of the best academic choices for them! Go to www.cpsk-12.il.us and view the scorecard for Skinner, I'm absolutely convinced that youand you husband will be astonished with the school's overall performance and consistency! Good luck.
