Hi Moms - We're starting CPS pre-k in a few weeks and are ramping up. Does anyone know if you're contacted about teachers, supply lists, first days, etc, etc? I keep looking on the school's website, but nothing is updated for 2011 yet. Any recos, moms? Thanks!
My little guy just started Burr Elementary's pre-k since they're on the Track E schedule. We've been in contact with the parents since June about playdates for the kids and the teachers even came out to some of the playdates during the summer. We also had email contact with the teacher. But maybe each school is different.
I think every school handles this differently. My little one went to Pre-K at Murray and his teacher contacted parents a few weeks before school started (by mail) and organized a meet & greet in the classroom. We were given our supply lists at the event as well as volunteer sign up sheets and healthy snack ideas. It was a nice way for kids to be introduced to their teacher and new classmates.
Each school handles their communication differently. Some schools (ours) asks for a supply FEE instead of the actual supplies. I'm almost positive that all CPS schools begin on September 6. Our school has a registration day where we learn who the teachers are.
I would just call the school. The office staff are there.
