Seeking Family Support Groups

I am the wife of a Mason sailor...they left with the Ike...and this is my first time as a navy WIFE. I had been in the navy before and my husband was only my fiance last time he went on deployment over 3 years ago. Listen to these wives on here, they know what they are talking about...especially the ones on the McFaul, my old ship!!...AND if you want, you and I could hang out and swap babysitting weekends or something just to get out of the house and not be stuck with the kids all the time! We meet on the first Tuseday of the month at 7:00 pm. Check out the website for more information. They moved it to a location off base so more people could attend.

I am a friend of Theresa's. She had repsonded to you also. I am the owner of the group she was telling you about. We have playdates 2 x's a week. And will have other things going on as well. Please don't feel alone, come join us.

You won't regret it. We are a great group of ladies with children, we have all been there done that.
My hubby has been in for 15yrs. We have been through many cruises, little dets, etc.

Come check out www.peninsulamommies.com We are a mommies support group on the Peninsula and are really expanding on the Southside. And ALOT of the mommies are military mommies. I am a moderator in the group and have been a member for over a year. We get together for playdates, outings, mom's night out, and more. Feel free to use my name.

Hi N.. I am not in a group of any kind, but my husband is in the Coast Guard and I have gone through deployments before. It can be hard, especially when you're in a new place, but don't worry. You get into a routine and it goes by fast. One of my friends from high school is on the Eisenhower, so I got to see him for the first time in 2 and 1/2 years, and it was cool. The boat should have a family support/readiness group that is available to all friends and family, not just spouses.

I've been through one deployment and far too many underways. It's tough, but the best thing is to just keep busy. Make sure you get out of the house every day, even if it's just for a short walk. Find playgroups and start attending those. The first couple of weeks and the last couple of weeks are the hardest.

All the ships have support groups and they all have ombudsmans who are there for any questions or worries you may have. It is not just for wives, as far as i know, any significant other is welcome to use the service. Just go to the link i left at the top of the message and you should be able to get in contact with someone there. Hope this helps...i know how deployments can be. Welcome to the area and the crazy navy life...lol.
