I also have severe itch on the areola area and the nipple. Like extreme itch. Nipple is fine it appears, however the areola part is broken skin with oozing clear liquid that stains my bra if not covered with some kind of bandage. Have a appt Monday. Im concerned what it is, it,ll stop itching at times, then itch suddenly. Its so strange, never experienced anything like this, been few weeks now....

What can I do next?

It sounds like some type of allergic reaction to me. Usually if it's related to the actual breast, it will discharge from the nipple. Have you been outside in a swimsuit where you could have gotten a bug bite? Are there any other places you are itchy? Do you have allergies or skin sensitivites? Eczema? It is good to have it looked at, but the fact that it's itchy probably narrows it down to infection or reaction. Doubt it would be a growth or anything like that.

Welcome to mamapedia!!!

This is a great first question!!

Why haven't you called your doctor yet?
Are you breast feeding?
Are you pregnant?

It could be a yeast infection...it could be thrush (if you are breast feeding)...it could be anything...GO TO THE DOCTOR...

Getting things checked out is best. You didn't mention any possible reasons. Are you breast feeding? Have you recently stopped breast feeding? You could have an infection and if that's the case, they can give you something to clear it up. I developed a weird case of breast itching last year that wasn't explainable. It's been many years since I stopped breast feeding, so I knew it wasn't anything to do with that. I started on a regime on Evening Primrose capsules twice daily. Within a few days the itching had subsided and it helped tremendously. You can probably google it, but a lot of women I know swear by this stuff. I have tried it and can say with all honesty it works! Good luck!

Know the symptoms of imflammatory breast cancer. I doubt that is what this is, but to be safe look up the symptoms, and photos of it online.
