When our daughter had a yeast infection we took her to the doctor and he gave a prescription for a anti-fungal cream, which worked great and made it go away pretty fast.
Hi All,
I was wondering if there is anything you can do for my infant who has a yeast infection. She was on antibiotics for an ear infection and now she may have an over production of yeast in her body. I am giving her Probiotics. Is there anything I can do for the itching due to the yeast. Or do I need to wait this out. I feel like my Dr. should have known this when he say her the other day, however he never mentioned it. I had my allergist suggest that was the problem. Any advice would help. thanks Lindsay

My pediatrician always has me put monistat on my kids when they have yeast infections, even as babies. It will put a protective barrier on the skin and help with the burning and itching.
I know the doctor can prescribe some anti-yeast cream.
You didn't state how old your little is, so I am not sure if this will help. If your baby is old enough to eat yogurt, then I recommend feeding her that a couple times a day. The active cultures in yogurt help fight off the infection. HTH
Have a GREAT day!

My grandson had chronic ear infections & the antibiotics killed the bad and GOOD bacteria!! Nyastatin is a cream and will take care of the yeast infection. Your Dr should be able to call this RX in to the drugstore for you. Yeast infections in little ones is so painful, urine on top of the itch and burn..ouch. You might also ask for 2 tubes so you can have an extra one on hand Good luck
My first daughter got a yeast infection from a reaction she had to a new brand of diapers. The doctor recommended I use Lanisol (the foot fungus cream) and Bag Balm. Every time I changed her diaper, I would put these on her and it cleared up in a few days. He also suggested using a clean washcloth instead of diaper wipes during the infection because it was gentler on her irritated skin and I would dab it instead of rub (when she pooped, this got hard because it wouldn't just dab away, so I gently rubbed). Once it cleared up, she was fine, I switched back to the normal brand of diapers and she was okay. I always keep Lanisol and Bag Balm around though just in case. HTH and good luck! :)
I tend to take some of the suggestions from people that sell the product a little looser than those that don't, but I have to agree about the Motherlove Diaper Cream and Thrush. I tried the antifungals, athlete's foot cream, a compounded heiney cream, and prescription and they seemed to work for a few days, and then nothing. Motherlove is our only diaper cream now, and I use it for nipple cream too. LOVE IT!!
My little girl used to get yeast infections a lot. She would get them because she was chubby and her thighs would not let the moisture out. Her pediatrician gave me a little tube of cream that I would put on her a couple of times a day.
YOu can use an OTC antifungal cream, or for a stonger dose of medicine, call your doctor and have him call in a prescription for antifungal cream.
YES. She has a yeast infection because of the antibiotics which killed the good bacteria with the bad. Put her on infant probiotics. This will re-establish the good bacteria in her gut. You can purchase them at a whole foods store or on line. You can read more about probiotics> http://www.babybites.info/2009/02/24/probiotics-healthy-k...
Hi there!
Motherlove makes an awesome herbal salve that would be perfect for your little one- Diaper Rash and Thrush. It will naturally discourage the growth of the yeast as well as provide soothing relief to her itchy skin.
I would be happy to pop a few samples in the mail for you, or if you want it sooner, you are welcome to come to my store (in my home), I am up in Longmont.

Hi L.,
My son had a yeast infection at 3 1/2. My naturopath recommened for the first 12 days 6 chewables in the morning and 6 at night before bed. We'll the store ran out of chewables, so I went to the liquid and mixed it in a smoothie, within a day, he passed a mass of mucus (from the yeast). I think the liquid form was much more effective! So I am just wondering if she is still itchy, there must still be an imbalance and you may have to increase the amount given.
I hope that helps!

Hi--
Are you breastfeeding? If so, you can take some grapefruit seed extract to get it in the milk and that will help. There are some great natural products for fighting yeast diaper rash. They should have the following ingredients: coconut oil, olive oil, melaleuca (tea tree) oil, calendula. I prefer angel baby bottom balm (whole food, vitamin cottage or online at earthmamaangelbaby.com). Also, continue give probiotics.
Good luck!

While you are waiting for the probiotics to clear it up, try a very diluted vinegar solution poured over the diaper area, then apply monistat or another anti-yeast cream. It should clear up quickly.
