We will be moving to Sarasota on the first of July. I'm trying to do my research online since I'm hoping to work asap. I need to find safe, dependable, fun, and honest child care that won't cost me an arm and a leg. I also need hours that vary between 8am to 6pm or so.....like mine will as a stylist in a salon. Please help!?

What can I do next?

Hi N. welcome to sarasota my little girl is three as well and starting in August she is going to the SRQ dance preschool she went to dance there and loved it so I thought we would try their preschool its smaller but the teacher Ms. Dory is great with the kids not to mention it's an all day program that includes dance, gym, and music. It's on Bahia Vista in Sarasota. Good luck the other one I would recommend is Church of the Palms on Bee Ridge both about $140 a week?

N., since 'an arm and a leg' is relative, can you give me an idea of what you're looking for cost-wise? This area has daycare for as low as $400 a month to over $1200, so that's a pretty big range. My kids are in Venice and Nokomis preschools/preK (we live in Sarasota), so we definitely did the 'shopping around' until we found what we wanted. They do tend to have waiting lists at most of the 'good' schools here, unfortunately as I know you're looking for something immediately. Forty Carrots is definitely one considered 'good' if you're looking specifically for Sarasota. But I think they have a waiting list. Cost may also be an issue for you. If you're willing to travel out of Sarasota (but still in the county), let me know and I can recommend some other places. I have heard the YMCA has good daycare as well. Feel free to email me privately if you want some suggestions, etc.
Good luck!
T.

I have personal experiences with two---
Stage Door Preschool (they have a website) has two wonderful nuturing teachers, Miss Patty and Miss Christine, and your daughter wuold have the added benefit of dance and tumbling classes included.
Beneva Christian Church's Little Disciples Preschool is very good, a strong academic preschool with very good teachers.

Both of these are preschools, though, not daycares per se. They run until 1pm but have later-day activities/care options to take you in to the afternoon for an additional small fee on top of the regular tuition.

I have two daughters--one went to each school because each was the better fit for their particular needs. We were very happy with both, and more so now that I have experience with my job visiting other preschools in the area.
