Seeking Disney Advice

Hi Moms! We are planning our second trip to Disney World. We stayed in a condo with friends on the last trip but are planning to stay on property this time. We would love to stay in a villa at Saratoga Springs, the Boardwalk, or Old Key West Resort. Have any of you stayed in a villa? Is it worth the extra money? My husband and I would like a little getaway time ourselves and feel cramped in a hotel room with children who go to bed at 8. The one bedroom villa seems like the perfect answer. Does anyone have any info on any of these resorts?
We are also thinking of adding the dining plan. Has anyone tried it? It seems like a good deal. If any of you have any other Disney advice, please share. Thanks so much!

Hi,

Our family is doing our first onsite trip to WDW this May, after a bunch of off-site ones. We're planning on doing the DDP so I don't have any advice about it yet. One thing I would recommend would be to go to a couple of websites for information about places to stay onsite. My favorites are: www.wdwinfo.com, www.allearsnet.com,www.disboards.com and www.mousesavers.com.

One thing about AAA. I think that you could get good discounts, but it is REALLY important that you get a travel agent that knows about Disney. I have not had good experiences with the Michigan Avenue or the Lincoln Park location. I would suggest the Evanston AAA office. You don't have to live close to them because you do most of the reservation stuff over the telephone and e-mail.

Hope this helps.

Hi Chrissy,

I hope this doesn't seem too forward, but I work for AAA (Triple-A) and while I'm not a travel agent, I can tell you that if you are looking for Disney advice - AAA travel agents know a ton about Disney and we get GREAT deals through them. We book everything there. You can find one of our branches on AAA.com. I really wouldn't have responded had I not thought we could help. I don't get any $$ off this, I'm just a mom who happens to work for the company!

I would be interested in this advice as well, as we are going with the kids for the first time in November. We too want to stay on property in a condo/villa.

I've stayed at the Boardwalk, the Wilderness Lodge and Old Key West. The Boardwalk is popular because of it's location. You can walk to Epcot & MGM Studios instead of taking transportation which is a hassle with folding and unfolding strollers. The Wilderness Lodge has a very nice pool area and it's off a beach where you can rent some rides for the water.
Since, it is a lodge, the Lobby is kind of dark. If you don't like a dark setting then you might not like the Wilderness Lodge. Old Key West is one of the older resorts but it is more spacious that the new ones. It's bright and tropical. All resorts offer day care. They give you a walkie-talkie that allows you to KIT. Then, head on out to Dowtown Disney nightlife. Personally, I like Bongos Cuban Cafe. It's very lively and not to mention good food.
