We are trying to plan for a Disney trip. We have been told that these are the lodges to stay in?

Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort
Disney's Polynesian Resort

Has anybody been to any of these? We have never been and am trying to figure which one?

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge and loved it! I liked that they had bunk beds for my kids, so they didn't have to share a bed. The water transportation to Magic Kingdom worked out great too. I'm ready to go back and it's only been 8 months since we were there.
Have fun!!

We stayed at the Polynesian last time and we liked it because it was on the monorail and the boat route. the pool was also a lot of fun for the kids. I loved the quick service restaurant that they had there too. This time around we are hoping to get a cabin at Wilderness Lodge. We need a separate area away from the kids. My parents want to stay in the Wilderness Lodge. there is a nightly campfire sing along with Chip and Dale also. It is on the boat route to the Magic Kingdom but I am not sure if they have the day beds in the rooms (the polynesian and the Floridian have 2 queens and a daybed, which helps depending on the number and age of kids that you have).

I can only vouch for the Polynesian, haven't stayed at the others, but we had a blast and loved it. We set-up our days, so we would get up and be at the park when the gates opened. Then we'd come back to the hotel by 2 or 3 and the kids would swim while my husband and I relaxed by the pool. Then we'd head back to the park for the evening. It was a really nice way to break up the day and not be totally exhausted. The pool at the Polynesian is lots of fun for kids, it has a huge volcano waterslide and there is also a beach lagoon where my oldest spent a lot of time building sand castles.
Hope you have a great time on your vacation.

Hi. My name is N. Cox and I am a Travel Agent from Flower Mound. I am a Disney Specialsit. I will be happy to give you my opinion about Disney World. I know how important this vacation is and I always try to help my clients get the most bang for their buck.

Depending on your budget and your kids ages Disney has a wide range of accommodations. How much time will you be spending in the room. In my opinion the Grand Floridian is Adult Disney but may appeal to you.
I like the Caribbean Beach for a moderate choice. Lots of people like the Wilderness Lodge. The Polynesian is great because it has the monorail throught it. I stayed there with my kids who are now 38,and 34 when they were 7 and 3.

I will be happy to help you. There is no fee for my services so feel free to contact me.
Thank You

We're Disney Vacation Club owners and have stayed at Wilderness Lodge several times. Hands down, it's my favorite Disney resort. (I call it my Happy Place.) The theming is breathtaking, both inside and out. And Artist Point and Whispering Canyon are excellent restaurants! The Poly is nice (and has the highest guest-return rate on property); Ohana is a great restaurant and we eat there every time we go. But I'm not a fan of their decor; it looks dated and reminds me of the 70s (which is when it was built). (I feel guilty even saying anything negative about it, because I LOVE Disney World, but that's my true thought on it.) The Grand Floridian is gorgeous, but very adult. Depending on the ages of the kids in your party, I'd recommend against it. (Not to say kids wouldn't be welcome there, but I think they would have more fun at a different resort.) IMO, the Grand Floridian is perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary. All three have great pools.

Since you've narrowed it down to these 3, it sounds like you're trying to stay near Magic Kingdom. While it's true that Wilderness Lodge doesn't have monorail service like the Poly and GF, their boat transportation is very reliable. Plus it's adjacent to Ft. Wilderness, which has a lot of fun activities like a nightly campfire & movie and hayrides.

Have fun making your decision!

We have been to the Wilderness Lodge Resort as Vacation Club members.

It is wonderful. We loved it very much. The Whispering Canyon restaurant is great and fun, I love the architecture of the buildings, the pool is great and you take a boat to get to the Magic Kingdom. It's refreshing to have a different way to travel other than the bus system.

We have also stayed at the Animal Kingdom resort and loved it also.

It was great to wake up in the morning, look out your window and see wild animals.

For cheaper lodgings, we stayed at the French Quarter, its Disney so we had fun but certainly not at the same level as the other two we have been too.

REally look at how you get from the resorts to the parks and where the resorts are located. Then, decide where you think you might go the most. Time is of the essence and you don't want to waste time sitting on a bus all day.

Have a great time...you will no matter where you stay!

1000% I am going to suggest the Poly!!!! My all time favorite resort. The vibe is just so wonderful there. We also stayed at the floridian and I really didn't care for it. It was a little too formal for kids I thought. Very stuffy decor-like an old southern mansion. We only had dinner at the WL...it was OK I guess. Wasn't crazy about the theme or the location...kind of secluded. Seriously....go with the Poly you will NOT be dissapointed. The next runner up after that for me is the Beach Club which is over on the Boardwalk. The pool there is the best in Disney so if you are going to do a lot of swimming you may want to look into it.

Have you looked at the Bay Lake Tower? It is the newest I think and is within walking distance to Magic Kingdom. We LOVED it!

We have stayed at Wilderness Lodge several times because it's a high end hotel that we've been able to get a good deal at. We LOVE it! My kids are older now and the last time, they ventured out on their own and found little nitches throughout the hotel that we never knew existed. There are spots with couches and fireplaces where you can sit and relax, display cases on each floor with fossils to check out and each one is different, the pool area is lots of fun and there are activities during the day and there is even an evening movie on the beach. The views from the rooms are awesome and you can take a boat to the Magic Kingdom so you avoid the bus crowds although the bus crowds to the other parks are much smaller from the Wilderness Lodge than from the lower priced hotels. Wilderness Lodge is one of our favorites! We always go on a budget though and the Polynesian has never fit in our budget - maybe someday. We do always go to the restaurant at the Polynesian though - you can't miss the dinner at Ohana.
