We will be moving to the Richarson area around the 1st of the year. Right now I have a wonderful lady that takes care of my child in her home. She is licensed for up to 8 children at a time. All of her children are 3yrs & younger. My 10 month loves it & I am VERY happy with the situation. I like the close age range of the children. They play wonderfully together & the sitter keeps it a very family homelike environment. The children eat & sleep when their schedules desire & are not on some strict routine. She takes care of my child the same as I would & I love her... BUT when we move it will be to far for me to take my daughter each day. Does anyone know of a same type of situation around the Richardson area?

I use an in-home care at Coit and Spring Valley...and it's wonderful! I chose this situation for the same reasons as you...I didn't want a large schoole, too structured for my little guy. Katya Jenkins runs the daycare, and she strives to have a group of kids around the same age. Right now, she has 3 toddlers (all about 2) and 2 babies (about 6 months).
I can't say enough good things. She communicates well with me and handles my concerns. She's conscientious about food allergies. She's INCREDIBLY loving and provides lots of positive reinforcement. She cooks homemade meals with vegetables.

I recommend my previous home care provider, Jane Maus. She is an ex teacher who is now a mother of 2 boys (3 and 1) and provides excellent childcare near Floyd and Arapaho. I only moved my daughter because of her maternity leave so we went ahead and started preschool. As a teacher, she is already accustomed to working with parents and does an excellent job of respecting parent's wishes. If she does not have an opening, she may also be able to refer you to someone with a similar background. Good luck!
