Our Lady of Perpetual Health, it's at 35 and 1518
Hi Moms,
I'm looking for a good spiritual ACTIVE Catholic church in the area. Also, interested in one that has a spanish mass b/c my mom prefers to attend the Spanish one when she visits and I usually end up taking her downtown to the Cathedral - construction/parking not ideal. If you attend one that you love, please respond. Thanks!

Our family goes to Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OPLH). It is a really great church, and very active- quite large also. It is right off of I-35 and Evans Rd- next to Retama. No Spanish speaking mass though . . .
I attend St Monica's in Converse. It is a great church and they do have several Spanish Masses throughout the week. Father Dennis and Father Mauricio are both fabulous and they actually were the final deciding factors in me converting to the Catholic religion.
I have also gone to a mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma. I am actually thinking about changing my daughter from the Catholic school in Converse to the one in Selma.
You are sure to enjoy both churches.
God Bless

I attend St. Helena...definitely no Spanish Mass. Sorry.
I am not a parishioner there but, have attended mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma. I have read the bulletin from there and it appears to be an active parish with many organizations to get involved with. I think that I can recall they offer a Spanish mass as well. Also, there is St. Helena's near Nacogdoches. I'm not sure if they offer a Spanish mass but they also seem to have an active parish. All you have to do is this, search the internet for: Our Lady of Perpetual Help Selma Tx. and then St. Helena's San Antonio Tx. It will lead you to their church web sites with a listing of their mass times, and online bulletins with important information. I've done it several times when I've missed my mass time at my parish. Good luck.

St. Mark's Catholic Church (281 and Thousand Oaks just inside 1604) has a strong spiritual base, however we do not have a Spansih Mass. It is a large church but becomes surprisingly small when you get involved in the various activities going on. There is truly something for everyone.
