Seeking Advise on Use of Body Pillow for Almost 4 Yr. Old Boy

My son who's almost 4 yrs. old has trouble getting to sleep without having someone by him, so I'm wondering if a body pillow would help? We (the parents) will not give up the snuggling b/4 bed but just need some advise as to how/what to do so that he can get to sleep and stay asleep throughout the night w/out needing/wanting either his father or I to comfort him. Has anyone ever tried a body pillow to suffice as a body and where did you buy one and what brand or type would you recommend?

What can I do next?

I swear by body pillows, we bought one for our 5 year old because he always ended up in our bed each night. Since we bought him a body pillow he stays in his own bed all night long. I just got ours at Target along with the cover which is fleece. Good Luck!

I had just gotten a new body pillow, and was going to throw out my old one when my 4 year old asked me if he could have it. I didn't see why not at the time and gladly handed it over. He's had a blast with it. Not only does he use it for sleeping, he uses it to read on the floor, and uses it to cuddle with while watching a movie or tv.

It is big for him, but he doesn't seem to mind and it does comfort him at night.

My advice is to look at either a Target or Wal Mart, they should have them pretty reasonable. You can either find them by the pillows, or they have more "kiddy" ones near the children's bedding. If you can't find them now, wait until back to school and they are usually out on an endcap.

Good luck!

My 4 year old was like that, but we got him one of those car beds and he goes to sleep with cars surrounding his bed (he's really into cars). It seems to give him comfort to go about picking out the cars that will accompany him to sleep.
He still wakes up quite early (5 am or so) to come sleep into our bed, but he doesn't wake us up in the middle of the night (unless its an emergency) or he doesn't get any candy the next day. That's the deal and seems to work for us for now.
Good luck!

Ditto...we have a couple and love them. I'd suggest getting one with a removable washable cover. Or you could easily make a cover for it. I think we got ours at Target YEARS ago, but have picked up cases along the way at both Target and Wal-Mart. Good luck!

Have you thought about one of the large floppy stuffed animals? When my dau was little they did not have body pillows yet so we went out and she chose a bear as big as she was to sleep with. She gave it a name and all it was used for was as a sleeping companion. Worked like a charm

My son sleeps with a big stuffed puppy (about 2ft long, but squishy/soft). He loves it and we have to tuck it in everynight when we tuck him in. He is also 4yrs old and has had his puppy in bed with him for a long time. He fell asleep before that just fine, he just put it in his bed one time and it stays there.

I would think a body pillow may be alittle big for him, but it could possibly work.

Target carries the pillows for about $9 and $9 for the covers.
Good Luck.
