My 11 week old goes to SW Pediatrics, and we are very happy with them. Dr. Lacayanga is wonderful. We have also seen Dr. Jacoby-Low and she is good as well. Their office is very helpful and always positive.
Hi, moms:
My baby will be due in the end of November, and I'm looking for a new pediatrician for him. A friend of mine recommends SW Pediatrics (there are three doctors there). I'd like other moms' opinions about them. Or any advice for pediatricians around SW Barnes Rd. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I love the Doernbecher West Side pediatrics on Bethany. It's a little West of your target, but they are wonderful!
hi, my kiddos see dr michael ericksen at sunset pediatrics. he used to be at the portland clinic but we followed him to the new office. we love him and trust him very much.
he heard my sons heart murmur at only a couple weeks old and he stayed with it and then directed us to a cardiologist. he is extremey thourough and we never ever feel rushed when at his office.
i would reccomend him to anyone and everyone.
We take our son to Sunset Pediatrics. He sees Dr. Margaret McCloskey and she is just wonderful. I really think any doctor in that clinic is great. You should check it out.
My son sees Dr. Kelvin Snyder at Sunset Pediatrics and he is wonderful! Dr. Hilary Knapp also works there and she is great too. I have a lot of friends who take their kids to Sunset Pediatrics. They are in the medical office building at St. Vincents Medical Center.
You need to check out Dr. Erica Meyer at Metropolitan Pediatrics (located at Good Sam). This entire practice is pretty amazing and they have always been able to get us in last minute. I've also heard great things about Dr. Monique Pritchard in Sellwood.
I know multiple people who have gone to each of these doctors. Good luck, Claire!
PS: If you're interested in thimerosol free immunization, each of the above docs are on board.
nursing and typing, easier all lower case. we love our doc, he's in that area.

I won't push my pediatrician on you because he is not in the geography you have specified. However, my suggestion is to gather several recommendations (as you are doing) and set up informational interviews in October with as many as possible. You will be amazed at how helpful this is.
Out of 6 names recommended to me, 2 would not do interviews, one had her assistant talk to me over the phone, and 3 granted appointments. All of them were highly praised by the people who recommended them, but by the time I got through the process, it was clear who would be right for me. Lots of factors came into play, including location, how friendly the staff was on the phone, how accommodating they were with my request for an appointment, and the look and feel of the offices -- as well as the vibe and info I received at the face-to-face meeting.
My kids are 10 & 7, and we have seen Dr. Wittkopp at The Children's Clinic (Peterkort building at Providence St. Vincent) since my older son was born. We LOVE her, and have been very happy with all of the other docs there as well. They have a great advice nurse line, great waiting room, x-ray in the office, and they are usually on time or pretty close. I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes, and if it's something serious, there's no wait. She was happy to meet with us when I was pregnant with my older son, and has been a great source of information and guidance as my kids are growing up. I don't know if she's taking new patients, since she currently works part time as she gets closer to retirement, but as I said, we've been very happy with all of the docs there. I would say the most important thing is that you find someone you like, who is supportive and practical as well as good with the kids and knowledgeable.
I took my daughter to SW Pediatrics until very recently. I liked them a lot (we saw Dr. Jacoby-Low).
Consider what style doctor you really would jive with. I recently decided I wanted someone a little more wholistic in their practice and someone who was really knowledgeable about vaccines that would support (not just tolerate) my decision not to vaccinate on schedule. I also wanted some weekend hours. I really liked Dr. Jacoby-low, but have found a better match for myself in Dr. Paul Thomas, also in the area. www.drpaul.md. I think it depends on what you're looking for. I also recommend interviewing first.
