Seeking Advice for Nutritional Snacks/drinks and OB/GYN Recommendations

Hi Everyone! I need your help. I'm approx. 7 weeks and starting to experience nausea on a regualar basis. I've noticed that it helps if I snack between meals but I'm not much of a snacker. I was doing crackers and then fruit but after I eat something 2 or 3 times it begins to make me nauseous. I don't know what else I could snack on while working full time 9 hrs per day. Also, orange juice and apple juice now make me nauseous after a few sips. Only been able to in-take ice water, but this is extremely boring to me but again, not sure what else is good to drink. Any advice on what to and not to snack on or drink would be much appreciated.
I'm also seeking OB/GYN recommendations. Mine left the state earlier this year during the time my house flooded. I remember receiving a letter indicating whom she recommended and had her client files sent to but I can't find it now. I don't want to wait any longer to get under a doctor's care. Can anyone recommend someone in North County that they were just overly giddy with?

What can I do next?

Traditional Medicinals makes a Pregnancy Tea that you can make either hot or iced. Both ways are good and it's fine to sweeten it with honey. The tea contains herbs that are good for pregnancy, including Red Raspberry Leaf, which strengthens your uterus in preparation for labor. Alvereta's is another brand of tea that makes a straight Red Raspberry Leaf tea, which is also good and can be sweetened with honey. Both would be great to sip on throughout the day. You can also find Preggie Pops at any Motherhood Maternity store. They are natural suckers that come in herbal flavors and are to help with nausea during pregnancy. Some snacks that I suggest are fresh veggies: cherry tomatoes, carrots, celery, cucumbers; also popcorn, nuts, string cheese, raisins, trail mix, dry cereal. All of those would be easy to travel with and nibble on while working.

Dr Padratzik is so wonderful. I love him, he delivered my second child 2 months ago, and delivered both my nephews. He is with Mercy Medical Group, on Dunn rd between lindberg and howdershell. He also has wonderful nurses, and other group members. I particularly like Heidi, his nurse practitioner. LOVE his office.

sorry, no help with snacks, they all made me feel sick for months.

The OB I use is not in North County, they are in St. John's Medical Office Bldg but they are good. The office name is Associates in Ob/Gyn on Ballas Road. The # is ###-###-####.

I would recommend Carlos Maitz
Maitz, Carlos A MD - Maitz Carlos A MD
###-###-#### 5000 Cedar Plaza Pkwy # 230 , St Louis, MO

I just did a search on his name and found this because I completely forget his number and stuff. I only call when I get the yearly reminder for my pap. He saw me through 2 pregnancies!~

He has an office off Craig Road which is off of Olive and will deliver all over. I delivered at DePaul. He's great with a very quiet bedside manner and pretty relaxed about stuff.

I agree with the protein snack. I was trying to eat bland food and felt gross, but the protein helped. If you are avoiding nuts for allergy reasons try sunflower seed butter (Sunbutter brand or Trader Joes has their own and Schnucks has some too)

I am a Chiropractor and do Acupuncture. What I recommend to my patients is more protein and get yourself hydrated.
I know we learn growing up that if you feel bad, eat crackers and other carbs, but pregnancy is different. Start out with something protein. I used 1 slice of toasted whole wheat bread and put a lot of peanut butter or cashew butter on it. I also drank a protein shake. My snacks would all include some sort of protein and I made sure to drink room temp. filtered water (it is better for you and tastes a lot better too) ALL day. I could only take small sips at a time, but kept it up. Also, you can get something called Mommy Bliss for morning sickness...it is a natural supplement with ginger in it that really helped me. You can get it online or at a Whole Foods.
If you have any other questions, you can email me at ____@____.com

Hi Tammy,

Congratulations! While I am new to the area, and don't have a Dr. recommendation for you, I experienced horrible "morning sickness" with both of my pregnancies. Stay hydrated. Water is the best drink. Try higher protein snacks. The first time around my cure-all was Yoo-Hoo and english muffins w/ peanut butter. Ice pops also do some good. Try to get the ones w/out added sugar. The key is to keep your stomach from becoming empty, so you really should eat something every few hours. Good Luck!! Hope you're feeling better soon.

I'd recommend OBGYN Physicians at St. John's Mercy. They have several wonderful doctors and are very reputable. My experiences with them through infertility treatments and 3 births and 1 miscarriage have been excellent. I have seen all the Dr.s in the practice and love them all. They are listed on this website as well. Dr. Shaner, Dr. Durell, Dr. DeRosa, Peggy Boyd (nurse practitioner) are my favorites.
