Speeking from exp have a lawyer! I was lucky that I worked for a large firm and I didnt have to pay for my atty one of the best in town. Funny thing is it was my mother's atty when my parents divorced and it ran her over $10,000.
I had a very easy divorce but we didnt have children and was uncontested as well. I moved out and we agreed on who would get what. We decided who would get what bills, etc. The good thing is that we were still friends and still very much cared for eachother. But a lawyer is a great mediator. They can give you the best advice when your mind is in a emotional crisis.
I heard this once and it is funny but true.
"Any person who has themselves for a client...has a fool for an atty." Since you do have a child a family law atty can make sure that you are taken care of re child support.
And why is he booting you out??? You are the one with the child.
I wish you the best and my best advice is dont fight over the small stuff like who is going to get the washing machine. It is just not worth it!
Good luck and I will pray for a fast, quick and painless divorce.
