Seeking a Small Daycare Center or SAHM?

My son has been attending a large daycare center since he was 3 months old. Since attending there, he has gotten sick every 3-4 weeks. Recently, there were several serious illnesses going around which we have had to deal with ourselves (treating him w/ preventive medications). His newest illness is hand, foot, mouth disease- not as serious, but a pain nonetheless. It's really starting to upset me that he has been so sick and furthermore, I am not super thrilled about the care he is receiving there. Unfortunately, I don't have any other choice but to keep him there for the time being. My hope is to find a small in-home daycare or possibly a stay at home mom that is looking to make some extra money. Another option would be a family that is willing to share their Nanny with us. We are seeking care 3 days a week, from about 8-5:30. If anyone has suggestions, I would be thrilled to hear about them! (Also, I posted here several weeks ago regarding pediatric recommendations & I wanted to thank everyone who responded. We ended up going with Sunset & absolutely love it!)

There is a free resource and referral agency-no need to pay for Metro.
Call ###-###-#### and you can get listings and all kinds of assistance for free.
There is also a free online service that will show any complaints made on a provider. Ask what the website is for this when you call.

A.,
Where are you looking for childcare? I am a stay at home mom who is looking to start my final year at PSU to finish my B.A. I have a little over 7 years of childcare experience from daycares, to preschools, to being a private nanny myself. I am the oldest of five and have a 20 mo. old daughter. I live in a clean, comfortable house that is more than child friendly but I am located in Vancouver. If that is workable for you and your husband, or if you are willing to work out transportation details should you find the right fit for your family, definitely get back to me. Either way, best of luck on your search.

PS- Depending on your area I might also be interested in a part time nanny share for my daughter and your son if/when I start school again.

Hi A.,
You might want to check out the Metro Child Care Resource and Referral website (www.metroccrr.org). For a small fee (about $25 as I recall) you can search a database of licensed, in-home daycare providers. It includes lots of useful information such as their location, hours of operation, and qualifications. I found our provider this way and have been extremely happy with her. Good luck. Finding daycare is tough.

DiscoveryLand Child Care Center on 60th and SE Stark is small, clean and loving. Two of my three went there, and we were thrilled with the love and support.
