Hi everyone! I am new to this website, but I am loving what I am seeing! I have 2 boys (ages 9 & 12). I have chosen to stop the vaccines with both. (They are partially vaccinated). I am in search of a pediatrician in Wellington, or near by, that will see them. Does anyone have any suggestions? OH, I also have a puppy that went into anaphylactic shock due to her 10 week shots!!! No more vaccines for her, either! Any good holistic vets in the area? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi J.! Yes, and yes, I have an answer to both needs! And good for you...you sound like us! My daughter was vaccinated, and I chose to stop as well ( after terrible side effects, and lots of research). I interviewed several pediatricians in Wellington, and although some said they would see her, most said they did not respect the decision, and would try to sway me. I now go to Pediatric Associates on 441 near Okeechobee. To be honest, the wait is horrible! It is usually one hour..BUT, I LOVE our dr. Her name is Dr. Santiago. She has NEVER made me feel any amount of wrongdoing by not vaccinating. Coincidentally, I just met another mom, who also does not vaccinate, and also sees Dr. Santiago. Their number is ###-###-####. Sometimes the call gets routed to their Boynton Office, so just make sure you are connected to the Royal Palm location. I personally would prefer a smaller practice, but I have not met a dr. I like as much. They also offer after hours and 365 day appts at various locations.

As far as your dog...scary! I really need to research animal vaccines as much as I have human. I do a modified vaccination schedule with my animals, and I have THE BEST VET IN THE WORLD! I LOVE my vet!!!!! His name is Dr. J. at the Animal Hospital at the Marketplace. He is the nicest vet EVER! He is SO respectful. Anytime our pets need any sort of medication, he only makes suggestions, and never pressures. He knows we don't vaccinate our daughter, and respects our not wanting to do much for our pets as well. Again, I never feel judged there, and I feel confident that he would respect no vaccines. He is a kind and fair soul! Their number is ###-###-####. They have another nice vet their as well, but Dr. J is just awesome ( and I don't know how liberal the other vet is). They are near the intersection of Wellington Trace and Greenview Shores.

I hope any of this helps!!

ADD ON... In response to the above note about the school system, you most certainly can send your child to school. You need only to go to the health department to get an exemption. THIS IS YOUR RIGHT as a parent!!!!

i think in public school, they will require that your kids be vaccinated. There is a difference between a puppy and a child. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want their child protected from disease!

Jen,
In response to the above note on getting your child into school, you need to contact your health department to get an exemption.
I am sorry you have received such judgmental responses from other members. We as mothers should support one another in a supportive non-judgmental manner. We all have reasons for making the decisions we do and until someone has walked in your shoes, we should not judge. It is likely that the individuals that responded to you, have not had a child die or been severly injured by a vaccine.
Best of luck

I had some difficulty finding one,so Googled it. Googling came up with Dr.Sears, in Wellington. He's a Family Practice doctor, was listed in the Alternative providers site. I usually like to try two or three different practitioners and compare them, but we haven't been able to.

I work in the school system and want you to be aware that in seventh grade they do a vaccine check. Any students without up to date shots will not be allowed in school on the first day. They will not even be given a schedule because of the risk they pose to other students and will be sent home. Just keep this in mind. Eventually they will have to get their shots if you want them to attend public school.

maybe there is something else wrong with your puppy - maybe because she is a puppy mill puppy and it is affecting how she reacts to everything, vaccines included. She may have been born with a diminished immune system because she was "enginnered" to please you. Please make sure never to take her to a dog park, or to Petsmart, or let her interract with other dogs. Please meke sure you get her rabies shot regardless of your personal feelings. I believe you are breaking the law if you don't.
