Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for an A-rated nursing service for fertility treatments.
Has anyone used a service that they'd be willing to recommend highly?
Thanks...

I, too, did it myself except the shots that required "backside" injections. On the days when husband was out of town, my neighbor helped me with those. It is harder mentally than it is physically. When you stay positive and think of the end result, it becomes much easier. I wish you much success. I have a 2 year old and 1 year old twins-all through the gift of fertility help.

I was able to give myself all the shots except the HCG shot. This was the only one the dr would not allow me to give. My dh has a difficult time with needles and this was the only shot he had to give. Even so, he had the dr/nurse draw a circle in which to give it. I gave my friend her shots while her husband was out of town. It is much easier than it seems. The needles, for the most part are small (similar to insulin needles) except for the progesterone and you can ice the area for those shots.
I think you will find that you can do it. I gave my shots in my thighs (use a different area in the summer to avoid "tracks") and in my stomach. Believe it or not the stomach ones were easier. I even had to do it in the bathroom on a flight because of the timing. The progesterone shots are a little bit bigger, but I got to the point where I didn't even have to ice it first.
Good luck with the shots and the outcome!

I gave myself all the shots inluding the progesterone ones.
I will be starting my 3rd semester of nursing school and have received good tips on improving the shot technique. The shots can be done yourself including the progesterone. I would be happy to talk to you and meet and show you how I did it. We went to the Fertility Center of SA with Dr. Neal. He was awesome. We have a very happy 3 year old.

I administered my shots myself too. I am a real wimp but it is a tiny needle and not hard to inject in your stomach. You will need someone to administer your last shot when your egg releases but your Dr. office should be willing to do that one for you if your husband is out of town.
Good luck, I now have a beautiful 2 year old boy!!!

Where do you live? Do you have family close? You could always train a neighbor or a family member to help you. I, too, went through fertility treatments and now have a 2 year old son. Depending on where you live, I could train someone close to you to do it (I am a nurse too!)

Congrats on trying for a baby, I hope it works out!

Yes, home health nurses primarily care for the elderly but that's just because that's who needs nurses the most. I would still contact one of those companies and explain the situation, you should be able to find someone. And I second the idea of a friend/neighbour/relative. Thankfully I haven't had to do this. I take progesterone to prevent early labor but can take the suppository over the shots. yeah! LOL

healthy baby vibes,

My husband did fertility treatments for awhile. I did not have anyone give me the shots either. Sorry I can't help in that department but I can say tha the needles are very very thin. You don't even feel them going in. Your doctor should be giving you a pen like needle so the meds are already measured. Good luck..it really is not that bad. I am here if you need support!! Go for it! Ya baby!

I don't have an answer about services but I know when my sister was getting her treatments and her hubby traveled her neighbor would come over and do it for her. Do you have a friend or neighbor that doesn't have a squeamish side and whom you trust that could do it for you?

Good luck with everything!

I went thru fertility treatments and gave myself the shots for the most part. The only ones I couldn't do were the progesterone so my hubby or mother did those in the evenings. If you can't find a friend or neighbor as a previous poster has said, you might try asking at the doctor's office (the nurses may have some ideas or know what some of their other patients have done), or go to a website like fertilethoughts.net (I think that's it--if not try .com or .org) and post on a bulletin board to see if you can find someone in your area who has gone thru it and would be willing to help you. I've also known of women who went into the doctor's office and had the nurses give them the shots, but that would really only work if you lived or worked near the doctor. Best of luck to you!!!

Hello,
I know this was posted many years ago, but I wanted to respond anyway to see if I could be of help to you or your network.
My company Gentle Touch Fertility Services in the San Francisco Bay Area works with women undergoing a variety of fertility treatments who are anxious about the injections. My experienced fertility nurses come to your home every evening, mix and administer all of your shots, and provide emotional support throughout the process. As I am fertility nursing focused, my clients feel completely relaxed and taken care of during their cycles as the stress of mixing the medications and self injection are eliminated.
