The Museum in Bourbonnais is worth the trip. They have these trails that you can go on that you can take down to some caves. They have an area where you can buy your lunch from a truck (very good) or just bring your own and eat in the covered area. They also have a barn with some animals right next store.

C.,
There is the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn (www.cmoaklawn.org)which is very small but probably appropriate for a 2 year old. Also the Exploration Station in Bourbonnais (www.btpd.org) is nice. Its a bit of a drive, but they have free days on Tuesdays. That might be better for a bit older children though, probably 3-4 on up. Hope that helps.

The Hands on Children's Art Museum in the Beverly area of Chicago (103rd/Wood) is a great place. They have all kinds of arts and crafts activities set up and kids can make a big mess and have a great time.
