Seeing Moms

I am a new member to the Woodland,CA Community. My husband I moved here from Portland, OR and I am having a difficult time finding moms with children around my daughters age. I've looked for mommy and me groups, or just other mothers at the park... but no luck. If you have a child around this age and are in the area I would love to get to know you and your child more. Or if you have any suggestions on what I could do to find other mothers that would be great. I get so tired of being at home by myself with her and I know she gets bored all the time.

Hi E.,

I'm fairly new to Woodland tooand I'm having the same problem!
I've been here a few years, but I worked full time in Sacramento until a little more than a year ago and now I'm a busy new mom.
My daughter is a little younger than yours, but if you're interested, I would love to get together anytime! We have a pool - so if all else fails, it's cheep and cool. :)
My email address is ____@____.com - let me know.
Also, there is a MOPS group that meets in Davis, but they are on a break for the summer. They meet at University Covenant Church (http://www.ucov.com) on Mondays 9:30-11:30AM

Welcome to Woodland! I'm so glad you posted on here - you'll receive such great support!

I have a 22-month old son, and his favorite park is Ferns Park, on the corner of Ashley and Southwood. They have a water play area, and he gets soaked head to toe within minutes, and loves it! They also have a great play structure, built within the last year.

I work full-time, and don't belong to any moms groups, but if you're interested, I'd be happy to give you a call or email next time we're planning to go to the park. Our son loves making new friends, and I wouldn't mind, either! We usually go in the evening, right after dinner. Feel free to email me!

I am so glad you asked! I'm part of a wonderful group of mom's here in Woodland called the Woodland MOMS Club. We are a 20-member strong group at the moment. Our kids range in age from infancy to 8 years old, most of them being in the age range of infancy to 4 years old.

We have at least 2 activities each week, sometimes more. I can't give any details online (privacy & safety reasons). But if you email me (just click on my name & you can send me a message through this site), then I will gladly send you our most recent newsletter along with details of how to join. It's super cheap, $25 a year, which just pays for basic expenses like the newsletter.

MOMS Club International is a large organization. Here's their website: http://www.momsclub.org/.

Also, there's a large MOPS group that meets at the University Covenant Church in Davis (www.ucov.com). It's about a 15-minute drive from Woodland, not too terrible. I'm not a part of that group yet, but plan to check it out in the Fall sometime. They meet on Monday's from 9:30 to 11:30AM, & childcare is provided. I'm not sure of their fees, but I think you pay 8 weeks at a time. Here's the MOPS link: http://www.mops.org/.

I hope this is a place to start for you. I would love for you to check out the Woodland MOMS Club - you can attend 2 events for free, just to see how you like things. Not all members attend each function, of course, & being summertime we usually have about 5 to 8 members attending - with their children of course.

Hi E.,

Welcome to California. There are quite a few play groups not too far from you. I actually live in the Natomas area which is about 10-15 minutes from you. While I am not too familiar with Woodland in Davis, West Sacramento and Natomas. Funtastic is an indoor play area in Natomas that has play groups for 3 and under every Tuesday and Thursday morning. There are also a few mom's clubs as well. I can e-mail you the information if you would like.

Welcome to the area! I live in Davis, and met lots of nice Mom's from Woodland through Music Together of Davis,
http://www.musictogetherofdavis.com - it is a great music class for parents and kids and we made the type of friends with families you keep forever in that class - who are from Woodland and us from Davis. Another wonderful possibility is becoming a part of the Woodland Parent Nursery School, this is a parent cooperative pre-school where you will meet like minded parents, they have a parent-tot program where parents and tots, 18-36 months meet once a week to learn and play together - http://www.woodlandparentnurseryschool.org/index/Programs.

Welcome to Woodland E.! I've lived here all my life and have daughters ages 3 & 7. I know you said you went to the parks and am not sure which ones you went to. The best ones to see other moms at I think are the park on Branigan or Woodside Park. Good Luck & welcome to town!
If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help:)

HI E.,

I am also looking for moms in the area. I live in the new developments in West Sacramento and available on Fridays. I am interested in beginning a playgroup for 2 - 3 year olds on Friday (if possible). Let me know if interested. I was thinking about posting a message for a Friday playgroup in West Sac or some kind of Mother's club.

About me--I am a mother of 4 with degree in Ed. I work M- Thursday. The older children are all 12 boy, 16 old girl. We are new to that area and really missing community groups. My youngest is a 28 month old boy. At this age, it's important to be around other kids close in age. He is the only pre-schooler with his daycare provider.
