Searching Endocrinologist for Hormone Imbalance/unexplain Weight Gain - Dallas

I don't know where to look for help. I'm 39. Had been on birth control pills for a couple of years to help with PMS symptoms. My migraines had gotten much worse and I decided to get off the pill to see if that made any difference in my headaches. My migraines are now less severe BUT since getting off the pill 4 months ago I've gained 14 pounds. I'm not eating any differently. I'm actually exercising more but have gained weight. I went to my OB/GYN. She tested my thyroid (which was normal) and gave me the name of a weight loss clinic. Yes I know I need to lose weight but I'd like to know WHY I've gained it all of a sudden. I'm also losing a lot of hair.

I'm thinking I need to see an endocrinologist to get my hormones tested. Does anyone have the name of a good one with experience in female hormone imbalance in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area??? I've seen the name of a Dr. Christianson but her website says her office is now closed.

THANK YOU!!!

My daughter saw Michael Sullivan at Tiena Health, 7200 N. State Hwy 161 #300 in Irving ###-###-####). Their web site indicates they also have offices in Coppell and Frisco. He is a PA who specialized in the endocrine system.
She was very pleased with him.

something similar happened to me and it turned out to be Graves Disease (sweating, losing my breath, loss of hair, brittle nails, shaking hands, weak legs). I gained weight, a lot of it, and while it was associated to my thyroid, no one could understand why I gained when I should have been losing. I went to Dr. Feinstein at Medical City (info below).

I'm still trying to work on the weight loss but to be quite honest, I haven't really taken the time to focus on losing it. I did get tons of blood work done and I was just told that I would have to work out extra hard and lower the amount of sugar I take in because my metabolism has significantly slowed down and that my body doesn't process sugar as quickly as it should/did. Age is a wonderful thing, but it comes along with it's quirks :)

Good luck to you!

I have been going to Dr. Sachson with Endocrine Associates of Dallas. He is very good. It will probably take you about a month to get an appointment. But when I was first calling around to endorinologists, I found this the case with all of them. There are very few in the area and a lot of people who want to see them. The phone number is ###-###-####. They have two locations, one in Dallas and one in Plano. The number for the Plano location is ###-###-####.

Increase your B6 and B12 if your not on these you should be! Make sure you use a good brand like Standard Process or Nature Sunshine. Your liver and kidneys are being over worked. Your liver is your bodys filter. You need to change your diet...
You need some kind of kidney support for the hair loss...Renafood. and you should be on a all veggie diet cut out all sugar and coffee, tea, bread and all meats for 3 months.
Putting more chemicals in your body might give you an immediate "feel better" but it will not help in the long run you'll be right back where you are now or worse.

Michael Sullivan is a PA at Tiena Health in Las Colinas ###-###-####). Hormone testing is his complete focus. He was recomended to me by a MD because of the large spectrum of issues I was having at 38. I was speaking to differnt doctors and professionals about all of these things (heavy periods, irregular cycle, headaches, skin issues) to treat seperately. I saw Michael, finally, and have been pleased. The treatement is based specifically on my needs, in the form of a compounded oral medication.
Good Luck!

What was your "normal" reading? Some docs still go by the old 0.5-5.0 range but a lot of them have followed the suggestion of a newer range of 0.3-3.0. Work with your doc until you feel good. Hair loss was a symptom I had when I was diagnosed with low thyroid.
