Scrapbooking Professional Photos

I was wondering if anyone has scrapbooked their child's professional photos and how to best go about doing so. I keep photo albums of regular shots and I don't think that I want to do scrapbooks for all of those (too much work and I am not very crafty), but I feel like I don't have enough wall space for all my kids photos. So I thought maybe I could display the most recent pictures of each child and keep a scrapbook of all the rest. Has anyone done something like this? I just wondered what worked and what didn't. Thanks in advance for any advice.

What i did was scanned it and printed out a copy on my printer. That way the original stayed untouched and i used the one i printed off to scrap book.

Hi K.;
Just my own scrapbook idea - it may work for you and yours.
I made individule scrapbooks for my 5 children.
Report cards - hair samples - pictures and anything involving them.
I went to a baseball supply store and purchased 8x10 and sheets of baseball card plastic inserts. These are made from a high grade plastic and will not discolor pictures.
I purchased an everyday notebook album to keep then in and personalized each album.
The children could see themselves at every stage of their lives.
I was hoping they would try a little harder to make good grades as I told them I was going to give the albums to their children. Hoping they would not want their children to see bad grades on their report cards.
Lots of luck with your project.

I mainly scrapbook my kids' professional pictures. You are exactly right about the wall space. I have a 7 year old and a 3 year old. Between school pictures and activity pictures, etc. I have run out of room! Anyway, I always trim the photos some and then mount them on cardstock. I use a 12x12 album to fit the larger 8x10s. Then, I decorate around them, usually with stamps. Occasionally, I will put in a daddy/daughter event or birthday party that is just our snapshots.
I hope this helps. I am in the process of moving from one state to another and don't have my books with me or I would send you some samples. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I scrapbook both professional and pics I have taken. I plan to give my children their scrapbooks when they grow older but I have a family book that only contains professional pics as well as very special pics - I plan to pack a lot in there so first days of school, first dates and famiy pics go in as well since this will be the book I keep.

I also bought, at Menards, a frame that holds 16 wallet pics - that is a great way for me to display several pics of the kids at one time.

Hi K.! I've been an avid photographer, scrapbook junkie and a Creative Memories consultant for 6-1/2 years. I scrap all of my kids' pictures, and I decided to use a 8-1/2 X 11 album to put in all of the professional photos that have been taken. It's not decorated nearly as much as my kids' regular everyday pictures, but they are in there. I only used a couple corners and borders on the professional pages, and put the date and their age... nothing much at all. I'm thrilled to hear that you are a scrapper! Keep pressing forward preserving your family's memories!!

I just did this! Creative Memories has a relatively new product called a Picfolio album where you can slide the pictures into an album (versus the traditional pages). It's a 12x12 album. All I did was attach it with a safe adhesive to a 12x12 paper that I liked, then decorate the page, them slide it in. I have an entire album dedicated to those type pictures. It's a great way to store all those 8x10 ones I can't possibly fit on the wall!

Another idea would be to scan the photos and drop them into one of the Creative Memories digital scrapbooks. You do the layout on your computer, then CM prints it as a bound book! They have a couple diffent sizes.

I am a Creative Memories consultant with a web site where you can see these products to see if they give you any ideas. Feel free to look -- I won't pressure you to buy or anything:) In fact, unless you contact me I won't even know you've looked at it!

Just click here, www.mycmsite.com/kellymonnin, then go to shop products. The Picfolio Max is under "Traditional Scrapbooking". The book is under "Digital Scrapbooking".
Let me know if I can help, or email me directly if you want to talk about ideas!

Placing your pictures into a high-quality acid-free and lignin-free album is a great idea! This way they will be easily accessed and looked at, and enjoyed by all. I have done this with my professional pictures. I just put a sheet of paper behind the picture, picking out a color that coordinates with the colors in the picture. I also had a 10 x 13 picture, but I saw where I could crop it to a smaller size, 10 x 12 without hurting the picture, or cutting off anything important. Also, Creative Memories does have a 12 x 15 size album that would hold that 10 x 13 size picture!

I haven't done my kids books yet, but i was interested to see what you find out. I also have 10x13 pictures that i don't know what to do with b/c they don't make albums that big.

I love scraping too and wish i had so much more time to do it.

I also need to create a scrapbook for my 2 and 4 year old boys. I just found a website with some pretty cool ideas and even a few free items. Check out www.memorymakersmagazine.com. Some of the ideas were a little complex, but they really had a some simple ideas you may like.

Good Luck!

my mother-in-law put all my husband's headshots into an album, one per page - it's like a flip book - when you flip the pages, you can see him age before your eyes. very cool.

Oh, and when I put professional photos into scrapbooks, I always use photo corners so I can get them out again - since I can't just print off another copy like I can w/ my pictures

I love scrapbooking I just wish I had more time for it. Since you will only do professional photos I do not suggest cutting them when you scrapbook. I would just scrapbook a page for each year and maybe use what your children like or something they achieved in school as your theme for that page, (baseball or an A in math) keep it simple since you are not that crafty. Also scrapbooking can get pretty expensive with everything they got out there. Just make it personal use journaling if you can and make a title for each page like what year it was. Good luck it is a lot of fun and it does relieve stress.
thanks,

Get ahold of an album that would be good for, at least, all their childhod. You can put the bigger one in the center and smaller ones at each corner or the bigger one in the center of one page with art work around it and the smaller ones on the page across from it with artwork. Have it on your table or coffee table or bookcase for anyone to see when they visit. That way you can see a progression of their age and changes.

Professional photos will stay preserved (provided they are stored properly and were printed on good photo paper to start with) in an acid free, lignen free album. Creative Memories makes a variety of products in 12 x 12 for any scrapbooking style. I did my daughter's school years using 8-1/2 x 11 originals and then added [refill] pages to the book as events, photos and certificates came up for that year. If you have not started making a traditional scrapbook album, there are choices such as the Picfolio albums, which are now available in combination slide-in arrangements to put both 4x6 and 8-1/2 x 11 into the same album. There are also quick kits to help you with the process. If I can help you from the Cincinnati area with direct shipping or email ecouragement, let me know. For those of you in town, I offer organizing workshops and crop clubs to keep you motivated to complete the projects. Check out my mom-owned business info on my profile. P.S. If you have 10x13 photos, Creative Memories has discontinued the "Big Book size of 12 x 15" albums, so get those refills and pages while you still can. Preserve them once and they will be enjoyed for a lifetime.
