Way to go on 3 VBACs! So many doctors tell their patients they aren't safe, it's sad:(
I haven't had this trouble, but I wonder if you can get either some butterfly bandages or some of that skin glue stuff to help it along?
Hi ladies. I had a c-section with my first son (now 9 1/2) and have had 3 VBAC since then without any kind of trouble or complications. My third VBAC was just 6 weeks ago. I had my checkup yesterday and talked with dr. about the soreness at my incision site. He checked it out and said that the muscle and everything is intact, but the scar tissue seperated. He said he hasn't seen this before. He feels it is nothing to worry about and has not restricted me on activity. He did say it might be up to 4 months for it to heal.
I'm writing to ask if anyone else has ever had this or knows anything about it. It's not horribly painful, but it is uncomfortable especially when I try to do a situp or sneeze or cough.
Thanks for any info.
I should clarify that the skin has not seperated. The seperation is between the skin and muscle. To look at the incision it looks normal. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for your responses. The discomfort is much less now, so I am going to hold off and keep an eye on it. Absolutely if I have any more discomfort, I will see another doctor. Thank you again for all of your opinions and responses.

With my son it was that way. It take awhile to heal. And it was a little uncomfortable but it did heal. I was worried also till i talked to my mom and my aunt who had been cut the same way. they said theirs was like that. If it still concern you after sometime. Get a second opinion. it wouldnt hurt to be on the safe side.
Hi H.! As a nurse, I find that rather odd. I would contact another doctor just to be sure. Especially since it's separating and painful. If that incision is from 9-1/2 years ago, I would think it would be more than healed by now! You may need it to be restapled or stitched to keep it together. Carrying the new baby, not to mention your toddler, can very well cause more trouble with the site. I would certainly get it checked out again. Good luck!
I would see another Doctor. Even your own doc said he had never seen this before. That should send up red flags for needing a second opinion.
Is the scar thick? I have one from quad by pass surgery back in Oct of 07. I have to wait a year and see a plastic sergeon. Google scars. It may be helpful to read that website. It says my scar may come back and usually they fix it with an injection and it can take up to 2 years and it can come back. it's called a keylloyd scar.
I had a VBAC after 2 c-sections. I remember that feeling like tissue was bulging out when I coughed or sneezed, esp in the car- softer seat. Anyway, doing Kegle exercise will help and yes, it will take some months for it to go away.
