So I have been trying a ton of different shampoos but my scalp is dry and flaky. Any suggestions on what to do? this is embarrasing. Head and shoulders, Neutrogena, and even a mudd wash detox but nothing has helped. Should I see a doctor?
I have used olive oil and it was a pain to wash out but did not seem to work. I don't think my scalp is dry, seems to be a build up of cells (that sounds really gross!). I have not been able to skip a wash due to looking very oily. And I have done the vinegar rinses they seemed to help a little. Lately i have been using bar castile soap. I am at a loss...

What can I do next?

This system has helped my husbands flaky scalp. My scalp used to be constantly broken out until I switched.

A home remedy you can try and it won't hurt: massage olive oil in the scalp, comb it in, leave it in for one hour, wash it out. If it does not work, at least you have deep conditioned your hair :)

Don't wash your hair too often. This causes drying. Wash every other day. Peanut butter if you aren't allergic, massage on your scalp, not your hair, leave on for an hour or so. Mayonaise works well too. Heat most any oils that you like and add to scalp, then wash out. Olive oil, Jojoba oil and babassu oil are all very good oils for hair.

Honey and ground oatmeal are good for a hair mask for really dry scalp. After you wash your hair, use a vinegar rinse. 2 tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar to 2 cups warm water. You may use a chamomile tea instead of water if you like.

Wash, rinse, use a vinegar rinse, use conditioner. Rinse. Try not to rinse all the conditioner out (ie squeaky clean hair) especially out of the scalp.

Have you considered using a shampoo bar? This is handmade soap that has a lot of good oils helpful to hair. You will definately need to use a vinegar rinse after.
