Sarcoidosis& Pregnancy

I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis several months ago. I was on a short round of prednisone for granulomas on my legs and muscle weakness. I have a couple of granulomas on my lungs that did not shrink on prednisone, but they have not grown either, so right now there's not a course of recommended treatment.

My husband and I want to have another child and my doctor advised it may be wise to do it sooner rather than later (implying that my sarcoidosis could get worse and require treatment that is counterindicated during pregnancy.) My question is: Has anyone else successfully gone through a pregnancy with a sarcoidosis diagnosis and are there any particular things I should be aware or wary of?

Thanks.

L.,

Sarcoidosis, which I'm sure you already know, is an auto immune disorder. Some auto immune disorders subside during pregnancy; others get worse. My daughter got Wegneners Granulomatosis during her pregnancy and as a result is leary about ever getting pregnant again, but others have had pregnancies with Wegneners successfully. Luckily, she is doing well now. Having said this, you need to be advised by your rheumatologist as to what the risks are, as well as the treatment, in much detail. Consider Googling the disease and look for a message board on Sarcoicosis, much like this MamaSource board. I believe you'll find lots of information from persons who have suffered personally. Best of luck to you!

No advice, just wanted to wish you well.

I'm not at all familiar with this kind of thing. Is there a website for this condition where there are boards that people post on? I'd think you would have more luck finding someone there who has gone through this.

Hi L.,
I'm usually able to help people with their issues naturally with essential oils, but I can't seem to find any definitive answers on the exact cause of your condition. I would like to see you look at my web site www.thenaturalsciece.net and try to follow the general health protocol, since if you can give your body what it needs it can generally heal itself. If you want me to do some in-depth research and contact some health professionals I know, let me know. I'm willing to search for answers to your problem, but it would most likely involve changing your lifestyle or add important nutrition to it, then I won't be able to find anything. Good luck, I hope everything goes well for you.
